Part of me wants to say Happy Veteran’s Day, but is it really an occasion for wishing happiness? Seems like it should be a little more solemn, somehow.
So, let me just take this moment to thank all the men and women in our military. I appreciate your service and sacrifice.
My dad was never in the military, but a fair amount of my other relatives and ancestors have been. I have an uncle who was in the Navy, another uncle who served in Korea during the Korean War, one of my great-grandfathers served during the Spanish-American War, multiple greats grandfathers who served during the Civil War—okay, okay, so they all fought for the Confederacy, but one of them also fought during the Mexican American War, and his brother fought for the Union during the Civil War—and going farther back in time, the American Revolution and the French-Indian War.
So, yeah, I come from a long line of rabble rousers.

Me too. I have a couple great whatever Uncles who died at the battle of Brandywine and other ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. A 3 times great grandfather who died in the Confederate Army at The Battle of the Wilderness, no Mexican/American or Spanish/American war vets, 3 WWI, 12 WWII, 3 Korea, 4 Vietnam and now one in this war. We didn’t get along very well with a lot of people either.

I hope they know we are grateful…

What a cool heritage. One of the few things I will never forget (since I forget everything) is the great sacrifices our service members have made so that we can live in this great country.

Tori, the men and women who defend our freedom deserve so much more than what we give them.
My father spent WWII in the Navy on a minesweeper, paving the way for the troop ships to travel. If he didn’t get blown up, it was safe for the others to go. Yikes! Can you imagine the stress?

Most of my uncles were in the military. My dad was. My BIL is now. I’m a strong believer in saying thanks for all you do.

Amen to that! My father was in the military and my grandfather, too. I’m very proud of them.

My husband was in the air force for 20 years. I’m proud of him, too.
