Okay, so that’s a lie. It’s just kind of rainy and coolish. Really not all that coolish, now that I think about it. Supposed to hit 72 today which according to rumor will trigger severe thunderstorms tonight. Oh boy!
Speaking of storms, I’ve had a storm of spam today! They’ve been coming out of the woodwork. Fortunately, they mostly shoot into the moderation area of my blog admin so I can go nuke them all
(with my handy dandy handheld nuke ) with one click of a button. Whew!
Last night I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl for the first time. I’d wanted to see it for a long time, but never managed to catch it on Pay-Per-View or on DVD, so I recorded it a couple of weeks ago when it was on ABC. I thoroughly loved it! But then I love swashbuckling movies.
But what I can’t for the life of me figure out is how Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow could be so very, very scuzzy and yet so incredibly sexy at the same time. Yo ho yo ho! A pirate’s life for me!
Part of me wants to say Happy Veteran’s Day, but is it really an occasion for wishing happiness? Seems like it should be a little more solemn, somehow.
So, let me just take this moment to thank all the men and women in our military. I appreciate your service and sacrifice.
My dad was never in the military, but a fair amount of my other relatives and ancestors have been. I have an uncle who was in the Navy, another uncle who served in Korea during the Korean War, one of my great-grandfathers served during the Spanish-American War, multiple greats grandfathers who served during the Civil War—okay, okay, so they all fought for the Confederacy, but one of them also fought during the Mexican American War, and his brother fought for the Union during the Civil War—and going farther back in time, the American Revolution and the French-Indian War.
So, yeah, I come from a long line of rabble rousers.
