Today I want to discuss “calling birds”. Who do they call? Do they carry cell phones? Or do they have to keep quarters handy to use in pay phones?

So what’s everyone reading? I hit the library the other day and found they’d gotten in a bunch of new books since the last time I’d been there. Right now I’m reading Kathy Reichs’ Cross Bones. It’s a mystery/thriller and features forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. Interestingly, this is the same character as in the new TV show Bones. But…. (You knew there was a but coming, didn’t you?) The show is NOTHING like the book! In fact, the only thing I’ve seen they have in common is Tempe’s name & occupation. This may go a long way to explain why I’ve never seen Kathy Reichs’ name anywhere in the credits on the show.

 Just on a whim, I decided to check out Kathy Reichs’ website. I found out something I hadn’t realized about the show. Real life: forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs is also a novelist who writes about fictional character Temperance Brennan. On the TV show: forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan is also a novelist who writes about fictional character Kathy Reichs!

Anyhoo… I really enjoy the show, but I think I like the book better.

  1. Um Tori - look at the credits again - it’s there. Love the show - bought her first book but haven’t had time to read it. I don’t have time to read anything right now - hopefull well be able to get back to reading after the first. :book:

  3. Omigosh, Tori, I didn’t know that about BONES, and I haven’t read her books, either. Although, I’ve heard they’re pretty good. I’m going to have to check her out.
