Very cool stuff in the news today from MSNBC.
Lost civilization unearthed in Indonesia
Scientists have found what they believe are traces of the lost Indonesian civilization of Tambora, which was wiped out in 1815 by the biggest volcanic eruption in recorded history.
And:
Ancient sun temple uncovered in Cairo
Archaeologists discovered a pharaonic sun temple with large statues believed to be of King Ramses II under an outdoor marketplace in Cairo.
On the horoscope front, two of mine today are kind of interesting.
Today is an excellent day for you, in which you will find a great deal of strength in your emotions. Trust that your instincts are serving you well, better than any other sign in the zodiac. You have nothing to lose by following you heart. This is an important time for you to rekindle the dreams that you have let smolder. Bring more of your fantasy-world into your everyday life.
Hey, my fantasy world is pretty bizarre. I’d be kind of worried if some of it came into my everyday life.
The stars encourage you to be malleable and absorb all the wonderful influences that are coming your way. Some of them might take the form of very unusual people, so remember to keep an open mind.
Uh-oh. Looks like my weird fanasy life just might be showing up. LOL!
Unpacking continues. And the factory people are here having to do some work. I’ve got an electrical short in my bathroom. I need that shocking little smiley.
My bedroom is looking fairly good. Better than the rest of the house, at any rate. I still have a lot of work to do, though. The rest of the house, however, looks marginally better than a war zone.
Here’s a silly quiz:
Now I just have to figure out who my favorite Star Trek character is….
The organizing continues. I’m slooooowly making progress. And I would just like to state for the record I have a bloody lot of books!
I’m not sure where I’m going to put them all! Oh well. I’ll figure it out eventually.
Did I mention how loud the trains are around here? Sheesh. We used to live a few blocks away from the railroad tracks. Now we’re only two blocks away. It’s almost as bad as living right next to them.
They don’t really bother me all that much, though. Thank goodness!
And major kudos to Apolo Anton Ohno on his gold medal in the 500m Short Track speed skating event!
:cheer:
Then going back on the ice to lead on the relay team to a bronze!
AND he sang the U.S. national anthem!
Sorry I’ve been kind of missing in action around here. Now that all our stuff is at our new house, I’m trying to get organized. What a nightmare! I can’t find anything I want, but plenty of things I don’t need at the moment. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by this.
I missed a good deal of the women’s figure skating so I’m afraid you guys are on your own for skating reports.
But I will say the Japanese woman, Shizuka Arakawa, who won the gold medal was just lovely! Beautiful perfomance. Very elegant.
My horoscope for today:
Take a break from the seriousness that has prevailed over the past couple of days. You will find that upbeat conversations are the way to navigate through today’s waters. You might notice that communication among others is much more active today and that words are especially effective. Talk and people will listen. Listen and people will talk. The conscious exchange of ideas is critical on a day like today.
Oddly enough, this is actually the case! My writing/critique group has been really chatty today.
Anyway, I need to get back to the salt mines now….
Update: Just remembered I wanted to mention the outfit Johnny Weir had on last night during the Championship Gala exhibition skating. What the heck was that supposed to be? Half man/half woman???
Or have I just been working too hard at this moving thing?
