Country music legend, and Hee-Haw host, Buck Owens died yesterday. He was 76.

I’m getting really tired of all these actors and singers dying. But since these things always seem to happen in threes (why is that???), I can’t help but wonder who’ll be next.

Returning yesterday’s discussion of Freemasons, I really need to watch National Treasure. And I can’t wait until The Da Vinci Code comes out. Wish I could stand going to the theater to see it. But aside from driving myself crazy with squirming (fibro pain sucks in the worst way), I’d probably make all the other people in the theater want to shoot me, too. :rambo: So I shall be (im)patient and wait for it to hit pay-per-view and/or DVD.

Anyhoo. Found a site this morning with a long list of famous Masons. Just to name a few:

Bud Abbott (of Abbott & Costello fame)
    Buzz Aldrin
John Jacob Astor (once the richest man in America)
Stephen F. Austin (Austin, Texas is named after him)
    Gene Autry
    Irving Berlin
    Daniel Boone
    Jim Bowie
    Mark Twain
    Buffalo Bill Cody
    Nat King Cole
Davy Crockett (those poor Alamo defenders needed some fellow Masons on the Mexican side!)
    Cecil B. DeMille
    Harry Houdini
Sam Houston (you were right, Eve!)

To see the full list go to Famous Freemasons. The list is HUGE!

And, yeah, you gotta wonder about all those other organizations like the Rotarians, Elks, Lions, and Moose (and what is up with all the animal names???). Why didn’t they ever get all the flack the Masons got?

As for writing music, I don’t know if Dr. Who music would help a paranormal or not, Crystal.

  1. Seems to me there was someone else just the week before. Let’s see, there was the three on that one weekend – Don Knotts, Darren McGavin and Dennis Weaver. Jack Wild (H.R. Puff ‘n Stuff) came right about then – I know there was someone else. God, we’re morbid – and it’s kind of nice to see someone who also does the “three” thing.

Unsubstantiated story – After the Battle of San Jacinto (Texas Independence for those who don’t know) it is said the Santa Anna flashed the Mason sign to Houston and that’s what saved his life. No one knows if Santa Anna was a Freemason or not, but that’s just one of the stories.

I’m such a fount of useless information

  2. Dang woman! If you’re going to point me in that general direction, you best be able to help me out. LMAO

I heard about Buck Owens. It’s a loss for the music industry. And you’re right…there will be more. *sigh*
It inhales when those you grew up watching pass.

  3. Eve, I think you’re right. But can’t recall who it was.

Interesting, if true, about Santa Anna.

Crystal, LOL! Well, okay. What kind of paranormal are you writing? Maybe that’ll help me help you. *g*

  4. When I was three years old, I lived for “Hee Haw.” Scary thought. Poor Buck.
