Yesterday’s Preakness Stakes was not what I, or lots of other people, had hoped for. Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro, somehow injured himself at the opening of the race. He broke his right rear leg in two places. At best, it’s a career-ending injury. At worst, it’ll cost him his life. :( The opening of the race was just plain painful to watch. Shades of the race between the great filly, Ruffian, and Derby winner Foolish Pleasure in 1975. So, so sad. *sigh*
On a more upbeat note, have you guys seen the ads for the upcoming summer NBC show Treasure Hunters? It’s part reality show, part treasure hunt, and part Da Vinci Code-esque puzzle solving. From NBC’s site: “‘Treasure Hunters’ is the new, quest-oriented series that features multi-player teams to be sent on a global search to solve a puzzle—and the first team to uncover all the clues will be given the location of a hidden treasure.” The TV ad also says the prize is worth “millions”. And the best part? You can play from home and compete for the same prize! How cool is that?
Today’s horoscope:
“You know something needs to change, but you’re frustrated by what you perceive as your inability to put that change into motion. (Talk about an understatement!) Stop trying so hard; the right solution will appear of its own accord. (Well, then. Okay. I guess that means I should just, um, kick back and relax. ;))”
Today is the running of the Preakness Stakes in Maryland. I’m rooting for the Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro. It is way past time for a Triple Crown winner.
Another great Doctor Who last night. I do love this show!!! Like you couldn’t tell.
Found out this morning that Dish Network is having yet another free preview. This time it’s the Biography Channel (now I can stock up on my favorite mystery shows such as Poirot and Midsomer Murders :whoo:), Discovery Kids, and Showtime. They run through June 13th. Then the 15th through July 11th, I’ll get Encore.
Today’s horoscope:
“Your ability to focus today will determine your success. The task at hand will seem tough at first, but slowly getting into the rhythm of working will actually cause a lot of your worldly troubles to fall by the wayside. (I just love it when they give me such strong hints to write.
)”
I watched a couple of shows last night about the Freemasons and the Illuminati. Neither was terribly illuminating, though. I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know. Well, except for one little tidbit. One guy said in Europe there were now female Freemasons.
How cool is that!
I’m still getting used to the new WordPress. Some things I like about it, others… not so much. Like, for instance, I’d like to know where the heck my quicktags went for when I’m posting. I did what all the instructions told me for getting them back, but no dice. Oh well.
Today’s horoscopes:
“Today, you could run into an old friend - and suddenly see this person in a different light. A romantic and very sensual attraction that you wouldn’t have believed possible the last time the two of you met may suddenly seem overwhelming. (Well! I have no clue who that could possibly be.) Try to use your innate sensitivity to gauge if this person is feeling the same way. If so, make a date to get together. Don’t write this possibility off because you’ve labeled the person ‘friend.’ (This would be a lot easier if I knew who it was! LOL!)”
Then the other one says:
“The stars want you to be as brilliant and original as only you can be. Go ahead and listen to your instincts — they’ll point you in the right direction. Have some faith: What you want for yourself is what the universe wants too. (I like this one even more! :whoo:)”
I spent a lot of time yesterday killing time reading the plethora of websites and blogs connected to or about Lost. Did you know the Hanso Foundation (those wacky people behind the Dharma Initiative) have their own websie now? It’s very cool and you can find out a lot of things they’re into and possibly what they’ve been doing on the island. But if you want to really see all the “hidden” areas you need to visit the Lost Experience site. They give all the passwords and clues you need.
