I did something last night I’ve never done before. I watched an entire Tammy movie from beginning to end. :) I’ve always only ever seen bits and pieces before. I watched the first one, Tammy and the Bachelor. It was made in 1957 and starred Debbie Reynolds as Tammy and the romantic lead was played by none other than a very young Leslie Nielson! He was quite the hottie back then! American Movie Classics was having a Tammy marathon last night for some bizarre reason. :)

I wrote about a page and a half last night. I guess Tammy was a good influence. Stefan & Stacy’s chaperone (aka Stefan’s cousin who is also another of Stacy’s bodyguards) seems to be taking great delight in teasing them about their burgeoning romance. Which makes Stefan glower and Stacy giggle. :)

Tonight is the second episode of Life on Mars on BBC America. Hope it’s as inspiring as Tammy. ;)

While I was in the shower this morning I had the radio cranked up and a song came on that reminded me it had inspired one of my stories, so I got to thinking about other songs that inspired me (either before or after I’d written something).

Oh, the song that came on the radio this morning? Wonder by Natalie Merchant. There are a set of lines that go like this:

    fate smiled and destiny
laughed as she came to my cradle
“know this child will be able”
laughed as she came to my mother
“know this child will not suffer”
laughed as my body she lifted
“know this child will be gifted
    with love, with patience
    and with faith
    she’ll make her way”

I’ve heard people discuss it as fitting for those with Down’s Syndrome, which I can see. But to me and my muse, it’s more about magic. :)

Has a song ever inspired you? Or do your books have theme music?

Today’s astro silliness:

“Make sure you get your daily dosage of laughter in and try to come out of your shell a bit more. (I wasn’t aware I needed a daily dosage of laughter, though I guess it’s good advice. :) ) This is an important time for you to let go of your inhibitions and open yourself up to the world. (And be Bad?) You may find that there is a sober tone to your emotions, but this can be easily overcome as long as you keep your chin up. (There’s nothing like depressed family members to cheer me right up. Er… that didn’t come out quite the way I intended. What I mean is when one or the other of my parents are depressed or negative, I have this compunction to be Little Mary Sunshine.) There is no reason for you to be gloomy.”

“Making a move in the realm of romance now might lead to a wee bit of frustration (No kidding! I live in the Back of Beyond, remember?)—maybe the response isn’t quite what you want, or maybe you’re left hanging. Perhaps waiting a bit is best. (Yeah, maybe I’ll have better luck when/if I ever get to move to Vegas, baby!)

“Feel like you’re spinning your wheels socially? (*snicker* See above.) Shell out some bucks and join that new club or professional group. (What? Future Farmers of America? Four H? Not that I’m denigrating those organizations! I think they’re great. They’re just not for ME.) The boost it will give your love life (Thought I was supposed to wait a bit?)—and your career (Okay, maybe they DON’T mean anything agricultural…)—will be more than worth it.”

And a new feature here at the Nuthouse, my WEEKLY horoscopel ;) Try to contain your enthusiasm and excitement! :crazedjumping:

“Mercury and Venus continue to be in your sign for most of this week, which is great for getting what you want. (Oooo! Promises, promises!) You have ideas and you want to get them off the ground, so talk to people and reach out to make vital connections. (Hey! Maybe this means I’ll be doing some brainstorming with my returning from RWA National critique group!) Use this chance to be heard and to make sure that others really take in what you have to say to them. (:whoo: Sounds like I get to boss you guys around, too!) Mars has just moved into Virgo so it is stirring up your communication zone and helping you to get into contact with others, especially if you haven’t heard from them for a while. (Cool!) If you write, teach or enjoy studying this may be a very active period in this regard as well. (Yes!!! :whoo:  ) You may have more administrative matters to deal with than usual. (Ugh. BOR-ing!) The Sun has moved into Leo and your personal financial zone which is highlighting this area and pacing the emphasis on one area of frustration that you may have had to deal with. On Wednesday the Sun squares Jupiter which may put you in a bold and rather overconfident mood. (Bad Girls R Us! ;) ) Try not to take a risk with your money if you feel this way as you may end up losing out. (’Kay!) This is not a great aspect for gambling. ”

On the writing front, I only managed about half a page last night. But that’s better than nothing. :)

Man, having so many people off at RWA National sure does make the blogosphere dead as the proverbial doornail (and what IS a doornail, anyway???). So. I’m forced to do a meme.

1. When did you first start blogging?

Well, I joined Livejournal in September 2003, but I had a grand total of one post for the year. So I hardly think that counts. *g* I posted sporadically through 2004 (mostly doing memes), then in April 2005, one of my best friends, Suzanne, said I needed to get more serious about blogging, and thus this site was started.

2. What don’t you talk about?

The same as everyone else. Politics and religion. Or at least I try not to. Sometimes things just slip out before I can think. :duh: I also try not to get too into personal details since this is such a public forum. I don’t always succeed at that one either.

3. Are you and your blogging persona the same person?

Hmm. Good question. I guess to a certain extent we are. Then again, maybe not since I’m talking about me, myself, and I in third person….

4. How do you use blogging to build friendships?

Oh, wow. I would be SO lost without the online community. While living in the Back of Beyond is quiet, more or less, it’s also… well, the Back of Beyond! I have family here, but not any friends. My friends live all over the country. Some of them I’ve even met in person. LOL!

5. How would you describe your writing style?

    Snarky?

Wow. Here’s a blast from the past! Those of you older than, say, 35, do you remember a group from the ’60s called The Cowsills? Four brothers who were later joined by their youngest brother and their sister Susan. Well, Susan Cowsill now has her own solo career! Who knew!

The Stargate franchise shows were fun last night! We had a crossover episode for SG: 1 with Atlantis.

I managed to eke out another page last night. Stefan got rather huggy-kissy with Stacy. Not that she was complaining, mind you. And it’s certainly one way to distract a girl from the fact someone wants to kill her.
