This week has been Banned Book Week. You’ve probably seen other people in the blogosphere discussing it. I hadn’t planned to do so myself, but I was hard-pressed to come up with a topic this morning, so here we go! :) Here are some of the banned books I’ve read over the years:

Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle
Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
The Headless Cupid by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
    1984 by George Orwell
A Separate Peace by John Knowles
    Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
    Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum
A Hithchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I’m sure I’ve read :book: more than just these, but these are the ones I recognized & remembered from the lists. Most of these books I really enjoyed. So I’m glad I had wonderful librarians to feed my imagination. One exception was A Separate Peace. I hated that book (we read it in Lit class in high school) with such a passion that’s the only reason I remember the title. I’m surprised I didn’t block it from my mind. I really HATED it. *g*

How about that Doctor Who extravaganza last night? :cheer: SUCH fun!!! I really enjoyed Christopher Eccleston, but I love love LOVE David Tennant. And if you’re wondering why they changed actors, Eccleston signed up to do a new version of The Prisoner for British television. Fun! I hope Sci Fi brings us that some day. I also hope they bring us Torchwood (which was mentioned in last night’s Doctor Who) which stars the delightful Captain Jack from last season. :)

I wrote another 3 pages in longhand last night. :whoo: The manuscript total is up to 253 pages! And no end in sight yet.

From CNN this morning:

    “Idiot” Barb Gets Passenger Detained”
A Wisconsin man who wrote “Kip Hawley is an Idiot” on a plastic bag containing toiletries said he was detained at an airport security checkpoint for about 25 minutes before authorities concluded the statement was not a threat.

Well, DUH!!! :duh: Who hasn’t called somebody an idiot at one time or another??? Ah! Upon further reading, it seems the maligned Kip Hawley is the director of Transportation Security, so I guess I can sort of see why they detained the guy, but even so, I thought this was a free country. Don’t we still have the freedom of speech? :blah: Besides, if I was going to threaten somebody, I’d use rather stronger words than “So and So’s an idiot”.

But enough seriousness, let’s talk Survivor! After Billy’s declaration of love for Candace last week, the teams merged into two tribes this week and Candace was asked about it. She was thoroughly gobsmacked (isn’t that a great word?)! I didn’t mind losing Cecilia. And I still adore Yul. He’s really my favorite player, thus far.

And what is up with CSI this season??? Was last night’s show weird, or what??? Who the hell killed Danny Bonaduce’s character??? Did I somehow miss that part?

Tonight is the season premiere of Doctor Who on Sci Fi!!! :whoo: :cheer: :bananadance: And not just one hour. No. We get TWO AND A HALF HOURS of the good Doctor! We also have new episodes of Ghost Whisperer (which had a great premiere), Numb3rs, and Deal or No Deal. Well, Deal is just gonna have to survive without me tonight. The Doctor and Melinda Gordon are my top priorities in that time slot. :)

A little over three handwritten pages last night. I’m working on keying them & the day before’s now. What a chore!

Had an appointment this morning with the diabetes specialist. He showed me a nifty thing my new insulin pump can do. It and the new glucose meter can “talk” to each other and the pump does the calculations and tells me how much insulin I need to take for any given situation. VERY cool!!!

Once again, it’s time for Celebrity Stupidity! While watching the news last night, I caught a snippet of an interview Barbara Walters had with Steve Irwin’s widow, Terri. Much to my astonishment, Barbara actually asked if IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!!!! No, Babs, that stingray INTENTIONALLY stabbed him in the heart! Sheesh. Reporters can ask the most asinine questions.

I am seriously loving Jericho. I also watched the Lost recap and Kidnapped. Didn’t see Devon on that last show, but I guess that’s because she’s behind the scenes. :D I just love Timothy Hutton. Loved his dad, too.

Tonight, we have Survivor, Smallville (season premiere), CSI, Deal or No Deal, Murder City, and the premiere of Ugly Betty (whose title drives me batty :batman: but I digress).

I haven’t keyed them in yet, but I handwrote a little over 3 pages last night. Should add another five pages or so to the manuscript. :cheer:
