This week has been Banned Book Week. You’ve probably seen other people in the blogosphere discussing it. I hadn’t planned to do so myself, but I was hard-pressed to come up with a topic this morning, so here we go! :) Here are some of the banned books I’ve read over the years:

Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle
Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
The Headless Cupid by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
    1984 by George Orwell
A Separate Peace by John Knowles
    Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
    Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum
A Hithchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I’m sure I’ve read :book: more than just these, but these are the ones I recognized & remembered from the lists. Most of these books I really enjoyed. So I’m glad I had wonderful librarians to feed my imagination. One exception was A Separate Peace. I hated that book (we read it in Lit class in high school) with such a passion that’s the only reason I remember the title. I’m surprised I didn’t block it from my mind. I really HATED it. *g*

How about that Doctor Who extravaganza last night? :cheer: SUCH fun!!! I really enjoyed Christopher Eccleston, but I love love LOVE David Tennant. And if you’re wondering why they changed actors, Eccleston signed up to do a new version of The Prisoner for British television. Fun! I hope Sci Fi brings us that some day. I also hope they bring us Torchwood (which was mentioned in last night’s Doctor Who) which stars the delightful Captain Jack from last season. :)

I wrote another 3 pages in longhand last night. :whoo: The manuscript total is up to 253 pages! And no end in sight yet.

  1. eventually they’ll bring out the Torchwood but production on that doesn’t start for a while longer..

But BSG looms closer and closer. Be sure to catch the webisodes.

  2. In honor of Banned Book Month, my daughter read several, beginning with Tom Sawyer. I love that folks have taken a negative and made it into a promotional opportunity…LOL…

You’re doing awesome with your writing…:worthy: Wish I could say the same.:help:

    Have a great weekend!

  3. Tori, 253 pages? Wow! As for the Banned Books, I was amazed to find so many books I loved on the list. For many of them, I can’t even understand why they were banned.

  4. Wasn’t the Christmas Invasion awesome!? Haven’t really made up my mind about this new Doctor yet. He takes arrogant to new heights. :) I loved the button! Personally, I think the prime minister made the right decision.

  5. Banned books. *snort* Whatevah. I seriously can’t believe how stupid and narrow-minded people can be. Oh wait. *snapping fingers* Yes. I can.

I did NOT see the Dr. Who episode. I saw it was on fifteen minutes after it started. And I couldn’t bring myself to miss a minute…so I didn’t.
If not for my (sometimes) higher reasoning skills, I would have thrown my ass on the ground and kicked and screamed like a three-year old. :hissyfit: I’m just saying.
    Grins*
