I can’t believe I forgot to post yesterday! All I can say is I got distracted trying to figure out what was on my spiffy new satellite channels for the upcoming week. I decided to upgrade to the next package on Friday. It was like Christmas all over again! :)

Anyway. Happy New Year’s Eve! Something else I can’t believe is it’s being almost 2007! Where does the time go?!

From Astrology for Writers, Editors & Filmmakers:

2007 is the year of the Pig. Pigs are lucky and love power. 2007 will be a year of the charming and fortunate power hungry-ites and their rise to the top and conversely, their tumbling from favor. Whomever is on top as of Jan. 1 ‘07 is subject to being persona non-grata before the year is out. Another way of saying it: Those who are new to fame and fortune in 2007 may not have it for long.

That sounds rather ominous. Not sure I care for that outlook at all! I wonder what the other sites have to say about the new year?

Here’s a fun meme (the ones I’ve done are in bold italics):

    1. Used real snow to make/eat a snow cone (Well, not a snow cone exactly. We used to make snow cream. :) )
    2. Slept in your car while parked at the side of the road
    3. Didn’t go to bed until 4 in the morning on New Year’s Day
    4. Dyed an Easter egg, using all the colours available
    5. Caught a scent on the air that reminded you of something from your childhood
    6. Taken a picture of the sky because it was a remarkable shade of blue that day (I did this a lot when I lived in Arizona.)
    7. Caught a fish and cleaned it yourself, then cooked it for dinner (Okay, the only part of this I’ve actually done is the catching part. I loved to fish as long as I didn’t have to bait the hook or take the fish off the hook. )
    8. Wished you bought two pairs of your favourite shoes
    9. Made a list like this
    10. Taken art lessons (Does taking them at school count?)
    11. Taken ballet lessons
    12. Driven a really scary stretch of road
    13. Read a book from cover to cover in one sitting (I do this a lot!)
    14. Written a letter to your Congressman (Since I can now send them email, I do this ALL the time! I probably drive them insane. *g*)
    15. Changed political parties
    16. Made a boat yourself, and sailed in it
    17. Worn mismatched shoes by accident
    18. Been so happy you wanted to burst into song
    19. Watched Barney, as an adult, without becoming annoyed
    20. Thought you could walk to Sesame Street
    21. Invented something
    22. Came up with a new recipe
    23. Snorkeled or dived a coral reef
    24. Been in a shark cage
    25. Been told that a character in a Nora Roberts book reminded a friend of you
    26. Howled in the car with your kids (Well, I don’t have kids, but I have howled in my car. It’s hard not to when you’re driving along and this HUGE full moon rises up over the mountains.)
    27. Loved someone so much your heart hurt
    28. Painted a house Interior or exterior?
    29. Painted a picture in the style of a famous painter
    30. Seen the Mona Lisa (Does a photograph or the movie The Da Vinci Code count? )
    31. Seen the Hope Diamond (See #30)
    32. Been the president of the PTA
    33. Sat on Santa’s lap…as an adult (Poor man…)
    34. Lost your spouse
    35. Driven a race car
    36. Eaten fried okra (I love love LOVE fried okra!!! But it has to be done just right.)
    37. Climbed Mt. Everest
    38. Seen Mt. Rushmore (See #30. Again.)
    39. Saved a baby bird that had fallen from its nest
    40. Tried a food you always thought was gross and discovered you loved it
    41. Been to Hawaii
    42. Been to Africa
    43. Had an “old-time” picture taken with your family, your friends or alone (And I look so cute  in my old-fashioned dress, wide-brimmed picture hat, and six-shooter :rambo: )
    44. Made good friends via the Internet (LOL! Only, like, 99% of them!)
    45. Met a movie star (Movie stars, TV stars, music stars, famous athletes. One of the many things I loved about living in Tucson way back when. Lots of celebrity events with little security, so you could just walk up and start talking to them.)
    46. Seen the Queen of England in person
    47. Indulged in a tinsel fight while decorating the Christmas tree
    48. Attended a family reunion (Lots of them!)
    49. Couldn’t turn out the lights for the night after reading a Stephen King novel
    50. Gone on a cruise
    51. Remember where you were the day the Challenger exploded.

Tomorrow I have to get back into the writing groove. :confused68:

I don’t get as many funny spam subjects as Bailey, but I have had a couple that made me laugh.

Jackson blends savvy (Blends it with what???)
Lying gutters (I just hate it when my gutters aren’t honest with me.)

On another note… do any of you find new uses for old things? For instance, I keep pens and binder clips in old Mason jars. My paternal grandmother had a ton of candy dishes she’d collected for years and years. Now I use one of them in my bathroom to hold cotton balls. Paper clips go in a small silver jewelry box. And I have this pedestal cake plate that I think I’ll use for bath stuff on the edge of my tub. Anyone have any other fun ideas for reusing things?

Lots of reruns tonight. What a surprise. But Zorro, the Gay Blade :sword: is on at 1:00am tomorrow on the Fox Movie Channel which I’m getting free on satellite right now. So, I’ll definitely be recording that. Weather permitting….

I’ve been taking a break from writing. I’ll start back up on the 1st. :typing: Right now I’m trying to clear the decks and get organized (which is a monumental task).

And to reply to comments from yesterday:

Brandy, I only recently discovered Nancy Martin and now I just love the Blackbird Sisters!
    Thanks, Melissa!
Bailey, I didn’t realize until yesterday that you were a Dresden fan, too. The actor DOES look interesting. I hope the show rocks!
Devon, I’ve never read The Big Four before, though I’m big Christie fan. I’ve owned a copy of Bimbos of the Death Sun for years, so I’m really looking forward to Zombies. :) As for Terry Pratchett, I’m a major fan! I’m slowly adding to my collection. Though I didn’t get any this time around.

Dec

Well, since I have nothing to talk about today (like that’s ever stopped me before…), I thought I’d share the list of all the new books I’ve either won in contests or received as Christmas presents (or bought myself with Christmas money and gift cards) recently.

The Big Four by Agatha Christie (a Hercule Poirot mystery from 1927)
Custard’s Last Stand by Tamar Myers (a mystery set in Pennsylvania Dutch country)
A Ghost in the Machine by Caroline Graham (part of the series on which Midsomer Murders is based on)
Hallowed Ground by Lori G. Armstrong (a murder mystery)
The Billionaire’s Wedding Masquerade by Melissa McClone (romance, of course!)
Make Me a Match by Diana Holquist (paranormal romance)
Mrs. Jeffries Appeals the Verdict by Emily Brightwell (murder mystery set in Victorian England)
The Affair of the 39 Cuff Links by James Anderson (murder mystery set in 1930s England)
Cat’s Eyewitness by Rita Mae Brown with Sneaky Pie Brown (murder mystery set in Virginia)
Revenge of the Fluffy Bunnies by Craig Shaw Gardner (funny fantasy)
Do Unto Others by Jeff Abbott (murder mystery set in the Texas Hill Country)
Dead Beat by Jim Butcher (part of the Dresden Files soon to be a new series on the Sci Fi Channel—hope they do it justice!)
Memory by Lois McMaster Bujold (science fiction)
Dead Girls Don’t Wear Diamonds by Nancy Martin (murder mystery set near Philadelphia)
No Phule Like an Old Phule by Robert Asprin (funny science fiction)
Zombies of the Gene Pool by Sharyn McCrumb (funny murder mystery)
High Heels and Holidays by Kasey Michaels (murder mystery series with a fantasy twist)
Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear (murder mystery set in 1930 England)

Nothing much on tonight, so I’ll still be watching recorded stuff.

And working on my goals for the upcoming year….
