I heard on the radio today that this is supposed to be one of the worst allergy seasons in years.
I can hardly contain my enthusiasm. Just shoot me
now, please and thank you. No wonder I can’t get over this bloody cold or whatever the heck it is. It’s probably the stupid allergies!
Anyway. At least it’s still pretty warm.
Those of you who commented yesterday about the new captain on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, I dislike him even more than Det. Wheeler! He needs to Go. Now. I miss Jamey Sheridan.
Tonight we have new episodes of Jericho, Bones (I still need to watch last week’s!), and Lost. And on Turner Classic Movies there’s a marathon of Boston Blackie (reformed thief turned detective) movies. Fun stuff!
I’m almost finished reading through what I have on Bounty Hunter Chick. Surprisingly enough, it needs work.
Shocking, I know.
Okay, it’s not really turbulent but it makes nice alliteration.
I haven’t posted on this at all this month, but March is Women’s History Month. And there’s a quote on the Biography Channel that I love.
“Well-behaved women seldom make history.”~~ Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
I don’t know who Ms. Ulrich is, but I think she’s on to something. Ah, after a bit of research, I see she’s a history professor at Harvard. Anyway, in honor of all the history-making women who came before us, let’s all misbehave!
It’s been brought to my attention (thanks, Judy!) that Biography is switching all my British murder mysteries from Sundays to Saturdays. What’s up with that? I hate TV executives. They always screw everything up!
On the TV front tonight, the only thing new I see on the main networks is Law & Order: Criminal Intent. It’s a Mike Logan episode. I like Logan quite a lot (he’s a sexy hothead), but I don’t much care for his partner. Oh well. This afternoon I’m going to be recording one of my favorite silly movies from the 80s, Night of the Comet. It’s one of the silliest movies ever made, but I love it anyway. Now if they’d just air My Chauffeur one of these days….
The writing continues, such that it is.
I’m just not feeling particularly inspired or clever or witty. Probably because I’ve been sick with one thing or another for what seems like MONTHS. I’m ready for it to Go. Away. Now. Please and thank you.
I stole this from Marianne:
1. Name a movie you have seen more than 10 times.
Bringing Up Baby, The Thin Man, and I’m sure there are others, but those are the two that popped into my head.
2. Name a movie you’ve seen multiple times in the theater.
Er…. I can’t think of one….
3. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Pierce Brosnan, Harrison Ford
4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to see a movie.
Adam Sandler (like Marianne, he does NOTHING for me and I don’t find him particularly funny), Tom Cruise (because he’s gotten so weird
)
5. Name a movie you can and do quote from.
The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and I’m sure there are others…
6. Name a movie musical in which you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs.
The Wizard of Oz, State Fair, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, and, yes, there are probably more. *g*
7. Name a movie you have been known to sing along with.
All of the above.
8. Name a movie you would recommend everyone see.
My Neighbor Totoro and Because of Winn-Dixie just because they’re both heart-warming.
9. Name a movie you own.
Okay, the most recent movie I got is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, but I have LOTS.
10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Hmm. Rick Springfield? Oh! Wait! WILL SMITH!!!!
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
Oh, yeah. The first movie I remember seeing at the drive-in was Paint Your Wagon when I was a little kid. I also saw Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark at the drive-in.
12. Ever made out in a movie?
Um, no.
13. Name a movie you keep meaning to see but you just haven’t gotten around to yet.
Oh, gosh. So many. Let me think for a bit.
14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Yep. Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life.
15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
I can’t remember one, though that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
16. Popcorn?
What a silly question. You can’t go to the movies and not have popcorn! Well, I suppose you could, but why would you?
17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
Never nowadays. Can’t handle sitting in a theater for any length of time.
18. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
I want to say the first Antonio Banderas Zorro movie, but I’m not sure that’s right.
19. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
Comedy and action/adventure (and if the two are combined I’m even happier. :D )
20. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand.
21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Oh, man, I can’t think of one off the top of my head.
22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Hmm. House 2: The Second Story probably ranks up there, but I’m not sure it’s at the top of the list. It’s just the only one that I can think of. *g*
23. What is the scariest movie you’ve seen?
I don’t, as a general rule, like scary movies. That said, when I lived in Memphis my roommate & I used to watch all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. So I guess that would have to be the one.
24. What is the funniest movie you’ve seen?
Bringing Up Baby, any of the Marx Brothers movies, Arsenic & Old Lace, The Thin Man, Ball of Fire. Yes, I know my taste leans more towards the 1930s & 40s. I prefer movies that can be funny without being vulgar.
Today’s horoscope:
Today you may wake up, take a look around your home and realize that there is serious room for improvement. Decorating has not always been your strong suit, so why not call in the professionals? In the meantime, there is much you can do simply by clearing away some of the clutter and reorganizing your bookcases in a more attractive way. Mingle some artwork and knickknacks among the books for a more interesting visual effect.
Y’know, I have considered hiring a professional to help me figure out the best way to organize my room. But if they turned out to be like those organizers on TV, they’d hassle me to get rid of a lot of my books and we’d come to blows.
And I have too many books to mingle knicknacks and artwork among them. But the books are NOT NEGOTIABLE.
Kind of a slow TV night. Deal or No Deal and 24 are the only thing with new episodes. Everything else is a rerun.
Still reading through Bounty Hunter Chick’s book. She’s so funny and kick-ass. I want to be her.
