Jack Valenti, the former head of the Motion Picture Association of America, died yesterday. He was 85. Valenti instituted the movie rating system still in place today. He was also considered to be one of the most influential pro-copyright lobbyists in the world.
Busy TV night tonight. New episodes of Ghost Whisperer, Identity, Stargate: SG-1, Raines, Stargate: Atlantis, Numbers, and Painkiller Jane. So, I’ll be watching the Sci Fi Channel shows and recording the rest.
I watched a show yesterday on the History Channel called Perfect Crimes? and one of the segments dealt with the 1922 murder of movie producer/director/actor William Desmond Taylor. It’s a Hollywood cold case. Lots of suspects, but none had enough evidence against them to be arrested, let alone convicted. I’d seen this episode before but I’d forgotten some of the things in it. Including another possible suspect who claimed on her deathbed that she’d been the one to shoot him. Must research her (she was also a movie actor back then)!
Wrote about half a page last night, I think. On the fairy tale. The Evil Duke is shooting ugly looks at our stalwart princess who is just throwing them right back at him. Why she hasn’t had him tossed in the dungeon yet is beyond me. *g*

Hmm. Not sure how accurate any of that is…
Some spoilers behind the cuts…
Okay, first up. Jericho. I’m so disappointed, but I’m glad to see even Jake doesn’t believe Heather’s dead. But why on earth did they have to bring back that chick who was pretending to be a Marine a few episodes back? I didn’t much like her then, I don’t much like her now. Hawkins rocked! And, geez Louise, but Skylar is stupid!!! When that one dude’s wife jumped all over her at the hospital and said “Wouldn’t your father be proud?” I took it as pure sarcasm at the girl’s selfish antics. Why did the silly girl suddenly think everyone in town had secretly hated her dad?
Then, Lost. How the heck did Patchy turn back up alive?
And he seemed really startled to see the boys. Who was he expecting? The new girl sure speaks a lot of languages! Jin is the father of Sun’s baby but because it was conceived on the island, Sun is doomed unless somebody—namely Juliet—figures out how to stop women who get pregnant on the island from dying. Juliet hates Ben, but apparently not enough to not do what he keeps asking her to do. Oh! And how about the bombshell the new girl dropped about Oceanic 815 having been found and there being no survivors?
I wrote about a page and a half (maybe not quite that much) last night. Go, me!
We’re continually joking about this at our house, so I decided to share with the class.
As I’ve discussed before, we have one truly local TV station (the other networks are out of Memphis and Paducah, Kentucky—for some weird reason). Anyway, there are two counties in their coverage area that we’ve decided are the Bad Weather Nexus Points of the country. Or maybe just our region. Anyway, if bad weather is even remotely possible, these two counties will get a warning for it. It can be sunny in every county surrounding them, but that doesn’t bother Mother Nature (they must have really pissed her off). I’m SOOO glad we don’t live there. LOL!
Well, Heather Mills got voted off the island… er, I mean was eliminated on last night’s Dancing With the Stars. That was okay by me. It was kind of a toss-up between her and John R. (whose last name I can’t spell, so I’m not even going to try). My two favorites are also the two top favorites of the nation, it seems. Apolo Anton Ohno and Laila Ali. And Billy Ray Cyrus may not could really dance his way out of a paper bag, but he always looks like he’s having SUCH a good time! Even when he’s making up his own dances, like the Bubba Chicken. *g*
Okay, so it’s Wednesday and that means Jericho, Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, and Lost. Re Jericho, I may be hoping too hard but in the previews for tonight’s episode I saw some woman being held in New Bern and I’m seriously hoping it’s the alleged-but-not-really-dead Heather. They can torture Eric all they want as long as Heather’s alive, IMO. I’m so bloodthirsty.
Wrote about half a page last night, I think. Try as I might, I just couldn’t get into the groove. Very frustrating. Ah, well. Today’s another day.
