May

Sorry for not posting yesterday. The day just got away from me. First, I had next to no sleep Tuesday night. Three hours just does not cut it. Then it took me forever to get ready to head out for the orthopedic doctor appointment I had. That went well, though it was still pretty exhausting.

The ankle is still broken. Shocker, I know. *g* They took the cast off so they could look at my leg and make sure the skin wasn’t doing anything funky (which happened when I broke my leg when I was a kid), but it was fine. Though my foot/ankle were swollen to beat the band. The general consensus seemed to be that that was fairly normal, so I’m not going to worry about it. The bad news, however, is I have to stay off that foot for another freakin’ month! :confused68: I was really hoping it would be better news than that. Oh well. At least it’s healing the way he’d like, so that’s good.

Now. Writing. Tuesday night I wrote THREE AND A HALF PAGES!!!! Last night was two and a half. I’m pleased. :) Maddie got her papers and a driver’s license and a passport. She was somewhat, okay, VERY surprised to see somebody else’s name on them all. So she’s about to find out who her birth family is, though she never knew the family who raised her weren’t. Much fun!

Watched three more hours of Threshold last night. I’ve got one more hour to go and I’ll have seen the entire series. *sigh* Stupid CBS. It’s no wonder the show couldn’t garner a following the way they jerked the show’s schedule around. And it’s a really good show, too!

Tonight’s the premiere of Pirate Master, another show brought to us by the folks who brought us Survivor. It looks mildly entertaining. I’ll give it a whirl. Then I’ll finish up Threshold and something else that tickles my fancy I’ve got recorded.

May

It’s almost the end of May! How did that happen? Wasn’t it just New Year’s a few days ago??? Man, I hate how fast time flies by these days.

Anyway. Onward.

I wrote two pages last night. :whoo: Maddie got a call from the governor’s office and was told to come down there to get her spiffy new papers. LOL! Makes her sound like a pedigreed dog. *g*

It’s another night of nothing on TV, so I’ll be watching more recorded stuff. I’m slowly getting my DVDs emptied. *g*

Finished up My Brother Michael and started The Moon-Spinners last night. I’ve realized Mary Stewart’s heroines aren’t really too stupid to live, they’re just typical 1950s-60s type heroines. Spunky, but not really actively kick-ass. Unlike Maddie. Except, of course, her kick-ass-ness *g* is mostly magical.

I love that phrase. It’s so very British. And so descriptive! Not that i know anyone who it would fit… well, I take that back, but I’m not going to get into that. Anyway, I’m not even using it to describe barking dogs. No, the dogs in our neighborhood who bark don’t bother me. What sends me into hysterical laughter are our barking FROGS. Yes, frogs! I don’t know what kind of frogs they are but they make the most hellacious BIG sound for such small creatures. Too, too funny! I told my dad they sounded like they had frogs in their throats. He didn’t find that nearly as funny as I did, though. :D And, no, it doesn’t sound like croaking. It sounds like barking. For a long time I thought it was some stupid bird, but my dad discovered the other day it was frogs.

I heard comic actor and game show panelist Charles Nelson Reilly died on Friday. Funny thing, though, I thought he’d died a few years ago. Oops. Anyway, he was always a hoot on Match Game.

I’m still in the middle of My Brother Michael which is one of Mary Stewart’s books set in Greece. It’s one of my favorites. The heroine’s not entirely too stupid to live. She’s pretty spunky. She tried to whap one of the villains over the head with a flashlight while he fought with the hero. It’s hardly her fault he moved so she only hit is back/shoulder instead. I’ll be finishing this one of up tonight then I’ll move on to my favorite Mary Stewart of all time, The Moon-Spinners. I think I saw the Disney movie with Hayley Mills before I read the book. As always, the book’s better. It’s another of the Greek books.

I watched the first six hours of Threshold yesterday afternoon and last night. Whew! Tonight the only thing on is Waking the Dead, so I’ll record that later and do some more catching up on other shows.

I wrote about a page and a half last night, I think. Maybe a little more than that. Maddie & Alex are still discussing what happened to him Way Back When before he met her. She’s not pleased and wants to go after the people who tortured him after they deal with her own problem.

And on a more somber note, here in the United States it’s Memorial Day when we should remember all the folks in the military who have served or are serving to keep us safe and free. Thank you for your service!
