Let’s see… I haven’t got a lot to say this morning. I’m still half alseep, actually.
But there are some tidbits in the news that I found interesting.
From CNN:
SHIPWRECK YIELDS HISTORIC RICHES — $500M WORTH
Deep-sea explorers said Friday they have mined what could be the richest shipwreck treasure in history, bringing home 17 tons of colonial-era silver and gold coins from an undisclosed site in the Atlantic Ocean.
Everyone seems all offeneded that they won’t tell anyone where this treasure ship is. Frankly, I don’t blame them! They’d have everybody and his bloody brother showing up to gawk and/or horn in on the action.
Then there’s this from National Geographic:
“Stunning” Buddha Art Found in Nepal Cliff
What I find curious is how the art in 12th Century Nepal is so much more… realistic, for lack of a better term, than art in 12th Century Europe. Or is that just me?
No writing last night. It was my day off.
I watched yesterday afternoon’s Midsomer Murders, then two episodes of 1000 Places to See Before You Die. Brazil and Australia.
Tonight’s the season finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and I’ll also be watching Blood Ties. Later, I’ll be recording Dead Famous. They’re going in search of Janis Joplin’s ghost who I really couldn’t care two figs about, but they’re doing it in Austin, Texas so I’m going to make myself homesick. *g*
This afternoon is the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness. This is the race that was the downfall of Barbaro.
This one is going to be a little hard to watch. Especially if the TV yahoos insist on showing that piece of film footage umpteen-thousand times. Anyway, today I’m rooting for Street Sense. I want a Triple Crown winner!!!
Speaking of horse racing, my uncle’s thoroughbred is racing this upcoming Thursday. So I’ll be sending good racing thoughts down to Louisiana.
Last night’s Stargate: SG-1 was a hoot. And I totally missed that Ben Browder wrote it. I usually always keep an eagle eye out for the writers and directors on that show, bu I must have glanced away at just the wrong moment.
Tonight, of course, is recorded show(s) catch-up night.
I have a lot to catch-up on, too.
For those of you out there who are klutzy like me, or have kids and/or spouses who always seem to have cuts & scrapes, here’s a contest you might want to enter. A chance to win 45 boxes of Nexcare bandages!
On the writing front, hold on to your hats. I wrote THREE PAGES last night!!!
I’m still not quite sure how I managed that, but I’m sure not complaining! :D
I caught the tail end a news story the other night about Allstate Insurance and I thought they said Allstate was going to stop issuing home/property insurance in states that have natural disasters. Uh…. what states would that leave, pray tell? As far as I know, you can have natural disasters in every state in the union.
Idiots. So, anyway, I guess they’ll only issue insurance in the State of Denial now.
Have you seen the ads for the new Nancy Drew movie? Sheesh. If you want to make yet another version, Hollywood, why don’t you at least make it RESEMBLE Nancy Drew? And why the heck hasn’t anyone ever tried to make a movie or a series about Trixie Belden? She was way more interesting than Nancy. And, of course, there was the dreamy Jim Frayne who put that dopey Ned Nickerson in the shade.
So, who watched the season finale of CSI? Dare we hope Sara drowns in a flash flood in that wash in the desert? I’m sure that’s what the Miniature Killer Chick was hoping. Much as I hate to agree with the looney, I really dislike Sara.
And then there were two. Two Clarks, that is. LOL. One Good, one Evil. Who will win? Will Lex be sent to prison over Lana’s alleged murder? (Personally, I think she faked it. I’m betting she hopped on that delivery truck that came between her and Lionel just before her SUV exploded.) Will Lionel escape being buried under those pipes at the dam? Will Lois be able to get Chloe’s body (and please, please, please don’t let Chloe be dead!!!!) out of the inside of the dam before it all goes kablooey?
Tonight I’ll be watching the Sci Fi Channel shows and recording the season finale of Numbers.
Oh, and I forgot to mention last night’s show on ABC, Lost: The Answers in which the shows executive producers talked about what we’ve learned so far. One thing they were VERY clear about. Nobody on the island is in Purgatory. They are all VERY MUCH ALIVE.
I wrote a little over a page last night. The Evil People came after Madison (the heroine’s current name) at the garden party. And we had the world’s shortest fight.
I need to learn to choreograph fights better in my writing. Of course, it was more a case of making it look like Alex (our hero) knocked the guys out while Maddie gave them each a mind-blast. She just didn’t want to advertise that’s what she was doing.
But when other guests got in on the act (the fighting not the mind-blasting), she finally just blasted the guys remaining and let the other guests wonder what had happened. *g*
