Well, okay, it’s not THAT super, but there you are.
It’s actually a little rainy here today.
When did Bon Jovi switch from rock
to country? I love them in either genre, but it’s still kind of disconcerting to see Jon Bon Jovi and Ricky Sambora and the rest of the guys on the country music video channels.
Watched two episodes of Dead Famous (Mae West and Bing Crosby) and two episodes of Gil Mayo last night. Tonight is Mystery! night with more Foyle’s War, Dead Famous (we go in search of James Dean), and several Fatty Arbuckle/Mabel Normand silent shorts on Turner Classic Movies. That’s right, folks, I have NOT forgotten my 1920s murder mystery, so whenever TCM shows any silent movies or shorts I have to watch/record them.
Wrote a page and a half last night. Nothing too exciting. Maddie, Alex & the cops discussed the possibility of magic being used to drop the chandelier on the seats below. It occurred to me last night, too, that I’m somewhat hampered by the fact I’ve only seen Phantom once and that was not in a theater venue, technically speaking. I saw it at Gammage Auditorium at Arizona State University. And that was almost ten years ago.
So, today’s poll (like I have polls every day!
) if you’ve seen Phantom of the Opera on the stage, was the chandelier suspended over the audience? I suppose, really, since this is my alternate dimension world I can do it however I want, but I’d like to be at least halfway accurate.
And if I accidentally disappear for awhile, blame WordPress. I’ve been getting these rude—okay, more annoying than rude—emails telling me my WordPress version is out of date. So I guess I’ll attempt to upgrade. Joy.

Um…. when I saw Phantom (three times in three cities: San Francisco, Denver and Sacramento) the chandelier moved as far as over the orchestra, but not over the audience. As far as I can recall. It’s been more than a decade.
Re: Bon Jovi — they did an awesome song with Jennifer Nettles of the country group, Sugarland, and did a concert with Sugarland. So, now CMT seems to think they’re country.
I also see John Cougar Mellencamp (or whatever he calls himself these days) and Bruce Springstein on CMT and GAC. Oh, and Kid Rock and Cheryl Crow… and Loretta Lynn did some really awful duet with some rock singer, too.
Go figure.
Have a great day!

We saw Phantom twice and both times, it was suspended over the audience. It would fall about 100 feet in a diagonal direction, until it reached the stage.

Count me in those who have never seen Phantom of the Opera live. *sigh* I really need to get out more. However I can sing every song in the show thanks to a music teacher who adored musical theater. *G*
Glad you were able to write more and also that you are continuing to research your 1920′s murder mystery.
As for Bon Jovi, I don’t like this new country bit. I prefer his rocker music. (But, then again, I’m not a huge country fan.)
Have a relaxing day!

Marianne, well, the chandelier crashing down on the orchestra (or their seats) would be just as shocking as the audience, so that could work, too.
Yeah, what is it with all the rock & roll people going country? Not that I’m complaining because I like both styles of music, but still. It’s confusing. *g*
Michelle, okay, that’s what I remember of how the chandelier moved. I know I was in row 8, I think, and I was just barely out of its range. Of course if it had fallen straight down it wouldn’t have been pretty.

Brandy, I’d only heard the live recording CD of the London cast when I saw Phantom. Seeing it live was incredible! Would have been more fun, though, if Michael Crawford had been playing the Phantom.
Of course, having a great seat helped, too. Row 8, dead center. And I hadn’t even bought my ticket way ahead of time. But when you’re buying a single ticket, you can snag REALLY good seats on short notice.

I thought I was dreaming when I heard that Bon Jovi’s latest song was a country hit. Interesting.
I saw Phantom a long time ago and I think the chandelier came down over the audience.
I hope the upgrade to the latest version goes smoothly and you have a good Sunday.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the upgrade goes well.

Bon Jovi is a bit disturbing as a country artist. He’s still good though.
I’ve seen Phantom five times. The chandelier hovers above about row 5 so the majority of the damage would be to the very front of the theater. Also, those on stage might take some shrapnel if it came down particularly hard.
