Did you see the news stories about Egyptian archaeological officials using DNA to identify Queen (or should I say King since she called herself a pharaoh?) Hatshepsut? Very cool stuff! Hatshepsut was probably the most powerful woman on the planet in the 15th Century B.C. She took the title of Pharaoh, wore a fake beard and wore men’s clothing. But when her reign ended, all traces of her pretty much disappeared, including her mummy. Then in 1903 a mummy was discovered, but archaeologists had no clue who she was. So she was filed away (okay, you know what I mean!) and forgotten about. Then a sarcophogus with the name of Hatshepsut on it was found with only a broken tooth remaining. They matched it to the unidentified mummy. And Bob’s your uncle! Er, Hatshepsut’s your pharaoh? Anyway, if you’re into Egyptian archaeology like I am, it’s very cool.
Not a lot on tonight. A new episode of Gil Mayo and a new episode of Painkiller Jane. I’m getting kind of bored with the latter, but the previews seem to have Jane kissing Connor which might be amusing to see. There’s also the usual plethora of ghostly and mysterious happenings shows. And next Friday is the season premiere of Doctor Who!!!
Not that I’m excited or anything….
I’ve been meaning to mention this for awhile now, but kept forgetting. There’s a new commercial out for Subaru that leaves me giggling like a lunatic. All these animals out in the wild start saying, “Ricky!” (But the one that really cracks me up is the porcupine who says the name several times super fast.) Then Ricky arrives at his destination in the middle of nowhere and gets out of his car. Very cute guy, too! It’s a lot funnier than how I’ve described it.
I only wrote one page last night. So sad. Maddie spent more time freaking out the surly constable. That was kind of fun. *g*
Reading: The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett

I love everything by Terry Pratchett.
I’m so thrilled about Hattie’s mummy!
There’s an entire gallery devoted to her here at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and no matter which exhibit I visit, I always stop by her “room” for fifteen, twenty minutes.
Her sphinx is stunning. I’ll have to post pictures.

WOW! I hadn’t heard they used DNA to match a tooth with a mummy. It’s, wow, that is so cool! I can’t wait to hunt up an article or 2.
My Son LOVES the subaru commercial with Ricky! He giggles every time it comes on.
I like the fact that your Maddie is “playing” with the constable! *g*

On the television front, you’re a chick with your ear to the ground. Is Dresden Files going to be renewed?
