Well, we’ve lost more famous people.

  • Tom Snyder (news anchor, radio personality, and talk show host)
  • Ingmar Bergman (film director)
  • There were others, but they weren’t people I’d heard of so I’m not sure they count as famous. Wait, that didn’t come out quite how I meant it…. They were obviously famous in their fields, but not to the general public at large. That sounds better. :)

And now for more news from ComiCon:

  • Dean Cain (of Lois & Clark fame) will play a villain this season on Smallville.
  • Lucy Lawless returns for at least two episodes of Battlestar Galactica’s final season.
  • Tonight on TV: Tru Calling and Eureka (don’t forget to add time at the end, Marianne). Then tomorrow morning on Encore Drama, the 1966 movie Born Free is on. I’ve never seen it, but since it’s set in Kenya I have to record it. It’s RESEARCH!

On the personal front, I’m battling the beginnings of a sinus infection. :yuck: I hate that. So I’m popping extra vitamin C & E. That usually does the trick. My foot/ankle is STILL swollen. *sigh* But I’m somewhat able to walk better with the Funky Boot(tm) so I guess things are improving.

I’m still taking a break from writing. Eventually, I’m sure the urge to write will come back. It always does. :)

Reading: Seeing a Large Cat by Elizabeth Peters. :book: I personally own only one more of the series beyond this one. I guess then I’ll have to move on to the library’s copies.

Have you ever had the urge to just hop in your car and drive cross country? I have. Of course, now I don’t drive (major depth perception issues), so I’d need somebody else to do the actual driving. :) We won’t comment on the price of gasoline.

Anyway, I’ve been plotting road trip itineraries for fantasy trips. I’ve always wanted to get my kicks on Route 66. From Chicago to L.A.

If you want to really see the U.S., don’t drive on the interstate. Nasty things, interstates. :yuck: Two lane highways are the way to go! See fun things like the World’s Largest Ball of String, two story outhouses :confused68: , two-headed calves, the Pez Museum, or Prairie Dog Town! And don’t forget The Thing in Arizona!

Where would you go on a road trip if money were no object?

It’s Kyle XY and Cities of the Underworld night tonight. :cheer:

Reading: I’m still working my way through The Hippopotamus Pool by Elizabeth Peters. I’d have been finished by now if I hadn’t been so tired  and could have stayed awake.

I watched the second day coverage of ComiCon yesterday and there’s a lot of news! Some of it slightly spoilerish, so beware!

  • Season 7 of 24 will mostly be set in Washington D.C. after CTU is disbanded. And Tony Almeida who died in Season 5 may not actually be dead! :confused68:
  • On Lost, we’ll see the return of Michael. No word on Walt, though. It wasn’t Locke that Hurley saw flying past the window in the office building. We’ll finally be seeing Rousseau’s backstory.
  • Zachary Quinto (Sylar on Heroes) will be playing young Spock in the new Star Trek movie. J. J. Abrams (executive producer of Lost and Alias) will be directing.
  • I feel slightly more human today, thank goodness. Yesterday, I definitely felt like Death warmed over. Or, as my grandma used to say, like Death eating a cracker. Frankly, I never knew Death liked crackers all that much.

Nothing much on last night, so I watched recorded stuff. Tonight, it’ll be another episode of Miss Marple on Mystery! This time around, they’re doing At Bertram’s Hotel. It’s been years and years since I read it, so I don’t remember who done it. :) I’m just thankful it’s at least an actual Miss Marple book.

I’m still taking a break from writing. My brain appreciates it.

Reading: The Hippopotamus Pool by Elizabeth Peters.
