Man, those Daleks just Will. Not. Die! Talk about bad pennies! But the most annoying thing about Daleks? Their voices! They’re worse than fingernails on a chalkboard! *shudder* I wonder how the Doctor will get out of this one?
I’ve had about 3 hours of sleep so it’s time for a nap. I can barely remember my name at the moment.
Okay, I hadn’t planned to comment on the football player involved in the dog fighting case, but I find I can’t keep my fingers quiet.
I think dog fighting is despicable and disgusting. He can claim he’s not guilty all he wants. The ring was on his property so I find it impossible to believe he didn’t know about it. If the punishment was up to me? I’d say toss the bastard (and all the other people involved) in the fight ring and set the dogs on him. Yes, I know that’s really viscious of me, but I have no respect for people like him.
Ahem. On a happier note, last night I watched a show on G4 (formerly TechTV way back when) who were broadcasting from ComiCon, the world’s biggest comic book convention. Only it isn’t just for comics anymore. Lots of gamers and movie related people were there, too. In one segment they had the cast of the new Indiana Jones movie via satellite. And I found out that Karen Allen will be reprising her role as Marion Ravenwood! Fun!!!
Tonight is the best night of TV.
We have Doctor Who, Gil Mayo, Psych (which has a shirtless Lou Diamond Phlips as a guest—yum!), and Painkiller Jane.
I didn’t write a single thing last night. I’m in desperate need of a break.
Reading: Thursday Next: First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde. I’m about halfway through it. I wish I was half (heck, even a quarter!) as clever as he is.
Since there wasn’t anything on last nigth, I watched a couple of movies. First up, The Casino Murder Case. This was made in 1935. The detective is suave, New Yorker Philo Vance. My main complaint with the movie was with the casting. Vance was played by Hungarian-born actor Paul Lukas. The problem is, he sounded Hungarian, not cosmopolitan New Yorker. It kept drawing me out of the story.
Then I watched the 1988 movie Sunset. This was more fun, though I had to wonder about some of the editing. It was very choppy. Anyway, the basic premise is western film star Tom Mix and former marshall Wyatt Earp team up to solve a murder in 1929 Hollywood. Bruce Willis played Mix and James Garner played Earp. The two apparently really were friends in real life. Tom Mix was a pallbearer at Wyatt Earp’s funeral, at any rate.
Tonight is a new episode of Burn Notice.
Here’s a bit of interesting news:
Rocker from Queen turns into astrophysicist
Brian May is completing his doctorate in astrophysics, more than 30 years after he abandoned his studies to form the rock group Queen.
I wrote about 3/4 of a page last night. I really, seriously need a break from this book. The more I work on it, the more I realize what a mess it is. As much as I love the characters, I think maybe this should be a part-time/when-I’m-not-working-on-something-else book. *sigh* And it isn’t as if I don’t have plenty of other ideas.
Reading: Thursday Next: First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde is the latest of my reading material. I just love Fforde’s books! The man is a genius.
