Some interresting stuff in the news:
Dinosaur find shows early social behavior
The fossilized remains of six young dinosaurs found together in a “nursery” at a site in China show these animals had started forming social groups much earlier than previously thought, scientists said on Thursday.
Experts confirm meteorite crash in Peru
A fiery meteorite crashed into southern Peru over the weekend, experts confirmed on Wednesday. But they were still puzzling over claims that it gave off fumes that sickened 200 people.
Well! That sounds like the alien invasion has begun.
I would just like to state for the record, if I had a billion dollars, I wouldn’t be heartbroken at not making the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans. :D I’m just sayin’.
On to last night’s TV shows…
Survivor: China should really have been called Survivor: Whiners. Lord, what a bunch of babies! And the clueless people who kept saying “I didn’t think it would be this hard!” Have they never seen the show???
And Jean-Robert should really keep his shirt on. Ugh. I so did not need to see his bare potbelly. Aaron & James, however, can go shirtless as much as they like. Lovely abs on those two.
Then there was the season finale of Burn Notice. I was scared to death Sam was gonna get himself killed. I guess I should have known better. So, any guesses as to who the woman is on the other end of the line? Personally, I’ve had my suspicions about Sam’s girlfriend Veronica since she arrived on the scene. Didn’t really sound like Audrey Landers, though. And we have to wait until next summer to find out!
Tonight, it’s Doctor Who, Flash Gordon and Painkiller Jane. However, I’m behind a couple of episodes on that last one, so I’ll record the later broadcast and watch something recorded in that time slot.
Wrote a page and a half last night. Not sure I like it, though, so it may get scrapped at some point.
Reading: Castle War by John DeChancie.
It’s another warm day here. It’s 86 right now. Supposed to hit 89. And low 90s through the weekend. Then it’s back to the mid to upper 80s. I kind of hope it stays warm enough to wear shorts at least through October 4th. That’s when I go back to see the orthopedic doctor. Why shorts, you ask? Because my pants legs won’t fit over the StupidBootBrace(tm).
Last night’s Lost Worlds was interesting. They “rebuilt” the original Sin City: Deadwood, South Dakota. I knew Deadwood had a bad reputation, but I had no idea just how bad. People talk about how bad crime is nowadays, but Deadwood’s murder rate in the late 1800s was TEN TIMES worse than any city in the United States now!!!
Tonight’s the season premiere of Survivor. This time the crew are in China. And then I’ll be watching the two-hour season finale of Burn Notice.
On the writing front, I wrote two pages.
This story is fun, though I need to figure out just exactly where I’m going with it.
Reading: Castle Kidnapped by John DeChancie.
I learned yesterday that Match Game star Brett Somers died on the 15th. She was 83. The title of this post was one of her catch phrases on the show. She was married to actor Jack Klugman. She was one of my favorites from Match Game and I wish I could have met her. Now the only regular from the show who’s still living is Richard Dawson.
On a happier note, today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, me hearties!
(I need a pirate smilie!)
Eureka was every bit as fun as I expected last night. Loved all the women fighting over poor clueless Jack.
I also finally finished watching this season’s Kyle XY episodes. Yet another cliffhanger ending. I hate those. Why do so many shows use this device??? By the time the show returns, I’ve forgotten what the stupid cliffhanger was anyway, so what’s the point?
Wrote another page and a half last night.
Reading: Castle for Rent by John DeChancie. This series began in the late 1980s and ran through the early 1990s. It’s a fantasy series which may be why some of you have never heard of it. It’s set in a castle (hence the titles
) with 144,000 doorways to other worlds, including ours.
