2007 is almost over! Hallelujah!!! This has not been the best year of my life. I am so over it. Here’s to hoping (and praying) that 2008 is much better!

Today in entertainment history:

In 1929, Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians’ first New Year’s Eve broadcast from the Roosevelt Grill in New York City was heard over the CBS network. (That would be the radio network.)
In 1947, America’s favorite Western movie couple, singing cowboy Roy Rogers and co-star Dale Evans, were married.

In strike news, the Los Angeles Times reports that some soap opera writers are returning to work using some weird loophole in the WGA membership I didn’t quite understand.

There isn’t much on tonight, so I’ll probably do what I did last night. Watch DVDs and/or recorded shows. Last night I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (and how does Johnny Depp manage to make such a scuzzy character as Captain Jack Sparrow so sexy???), then explored the bonus goodies on the National Treasure DVD. Have I ever mentioned how much I love DVD bonus goodies? It’s almost like Christmas!

Reading: I’m into the next Ellie Haskell mystery by Dorothy Cannell, Bridesmaids Revisited. Have you notied the last few have had cleverly revamped movie/book titles for their titles?

Several people have asked how long I’ll have to wear the special shoes. The answer to that is, most likely, forever. Because they weren’t able to do surgery on my ankle, it’s not as straight as it should be. So the shoes are supposed to balance that out.

So, I’m watching HGTV and some of their house hunting shows. What is up with these people? They look at the houses and make whiny comments like “I don’t like that wallpaper” or “What a hideous color”. Hello? Stuff like that isn’t permanent! You can CHANGE IT!!! Really! *shaking head* I just can’t imagine somebody not considering a house based on the wall color.

Last night, I watched The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black. It was the first time I’d seen it. It’s a keeper! What a delightful holiday romance!

There is absolutely nothing on tonight. So it’ll be more recorded stuff for me tonight. :)

Reading: I’m still reading The Trouble with Harriet by Dorothy Cannell. It’s one of my favorites of this series. :)

News from the World of Archaeology:

Ancient pyramid found in central Mexico City
Archeologists have discovered the ruins of an 800-year-old Aztec pyramid in the heart of Mexico City that could show that the city is at least a century older than previously thought.

Pretty cool, huh?

New from the writers’ strike front, David Letterman and Craig Ferguson will return shortly with their full writing staff. Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants, reached an agreement with the WGA. The other late night guys who returned earlier are severely limited by what they can do because they’re without writers.

At long last here are a couple of pictures of my glasses. :)

    glasses 1
    glasses 2

Apologies for the quality. Or the lack thereof. I think I need more practice with my digital camera…. Wish you could see the color better.

There isn’t much on tonight, so I’m not sure what I’ll watch. Last night I watched the movie Just Visiting which I found highly amusing. :)

Reading: The Trouble with Harriet by Dorothy Cannell. More murder and mayhem in England!
