I feel a little like Suzanne today. We don’t live in the country itself. We live in a small town, population about 1200 (maybe less since the 2006 tornado). Anyway, we live on the last street on the south side of town. Across from us are houses and then a field. I’m not sure what crop they grow in that field, but that isn’t what this post is about. Our street dead ends at a friend’s farm equipment sheds. Last night, one of the farmer’s fully-loaded grain-hauling trucks came down our street and ended up in the ditch at the highway a block up. Took out a power pole (which fortunately wasn’t connected to our power) and had the truck on its side. Much excitement ensued! Though I couldn’t see much from my room. And it was too darn cold to go stand outside.
I didn’t sleep very well last night. Or, to be more accurate, more badly than usual. My ankle was aching something awful. My guess is the cold, wet weather. In fact, all my joints were kind of achy last night. But the ankle was the worst. I don’t recommend broken ankles.
The only thing on tonight I watch that isn’t a repeat is Life on Mars. Not that I’ve actually seen any of that this season. I’ve got it all recorded. I’m saving them for hard times. *g*
I wrote one sentence last night. But then I read through the first chapter. Some of it amuses me a great deal. Some of it needs work.
Reading: For Old Crime’s Sake by Delano Ames. Now Jane & Dagobert are off to a small royal island off the coast of southern Spain/France.
I loves me some small town excitement!!

Mahala, I just wish I’d been able to see it better.

“…much excitment ensued…”
One sentence? Try to restrain yourself..
I need me some more smilies… go forth and scare some up, would you?

Sorry that you’re feeling aches and pains.

I live in a small town within a medium sized county. We, too hear sirens and such and wonder. What really freaks me out is that on a quiet evening I can stand outside in my backyard and hear the cows in the pasture outside our neighborhood.
Have you heard of the new reality show that has teenagers thinking that parenthood is easy, so they “give” them kids to take care of for a specified time? I love the tagline for it. (”It’s not reality tv, it’s birth control”.)(LOL)
Sorry to hear about your ankle and joints. I understand. I hope tonight is better for you and that you are able to get some rest.
A sentence? Um, better than nothing at all, right? *g*
Have a nice evening!

Hey, when you live someplace small you have to make your own excitement.
