No, not the ’80s band by that name! But my new shoes I got today. These puppies are gonna take some getting used to. I used to wear a size 7 1/2. These are a size 9!!! They had to be larger to accommodate the orthotic inserts. Maybe some day I’ll even be able to walk without tripping in them. *g*
I was thisclose to blowing a gasket last night while watching the news. Every damn story about Heath Ledger kept harping on the fact he had six prescription drugs in his apartment. And making it sound like the most horrible thing in the world. Never mind that they were LEGAL prescription drugs prescribed by his doctor!!! Well, damn. I guess I’d best watch out. I take seven. And none of the news idiots actually KNOW anything. It’s all speculation. So why don’t they just shut the hell up (and quit tormenting the poor man’s family)?!
Ahem. Now that I’ve got that out of my system…
The Hollywood Blog has a great article on the Knickerbocker Hotel which was built in 1925 in Hollywood. I’m sure my characters visit there now and then. Or will. I need to find out just when it opened and figure out just when my book is set. I know it’s set in 1925, but I’ve never figured out just when in 1925.
Tonight, NBC claims we’re getting two new episodes of Chuck. That’ll be fun! Except for The Apprentice being on in between them. Guess I’ll watch something recorded during that time slot.
Read through Chapter 3 last night and made some notes.
Reading: I ended up not reading Dating is Murder because about the time I read chapter 2, I remembered who the killer was. So I decided on Whose Body? by Dorothy L. Sayers. I know who the killer is in that one, too, but with the Lord Peter Wimsey books, it’s more about the journey than the destination. I think maybe I need to focus on the masters (mistresses?) like Sayers and Agatha Christie and try to learn more from them.
The death of Heath Ledger is all the talk around the Blogosphere and elsewhere. It seems the preliminary autopsy was “inconclusive”. They’re now saying it could be ten days before they know what caused his death. Of course, the writer in me has this urge to turn conspiracy theorist and come up with all kinds of wild ideas about what really caused it. I’m trying to keep that part of myself quiet today, however.
In other news… the wacky weather. It’s currently 28 with a windchill of 23. Tomorrow night it’s supposed to dip down to 17 with possible snow. (We won’t go into how this is the day I’m supposed to go get my new shoes.) Then on Monday, they’re saying it’ll be 60!!! What’s up with that?!
