- MUMMIFIED DINOSAUR UNEARTHED IN NORTH DAKOTA
Using tiny brushes and chisels, workers picking at a big greenish-black rock in the basement of North Dakota’s state museum are meticulously uncovering something amazing: a nearly complete dinosaur, skin and all.
And I see the world has lost a famous science fiction writer. Arthur C. Clarke died early this morning at the age of 90. He’s best known for the book 2001: A Space Odyssey. “I’m sorry, Hal. I can’t do that.”
My Dancing with the Stars report for last night is incomplete thanks to our weather guy who just had to break in and tell us what might happen in one county east of us. And he spent 20 minutes telling us pretty much nothing. They’re very good about beating a dead horse. For hours. I completely missed Monica Seles’ and Marissa Jaret Winokur’s dances.
Anyway, here’s what I did manage to see:
- Shannon Elizabeth & Derek - Their first dance was the cha cha. I didn’t think she was that great. The judges disagreed. They scored 21/30.
- Monica Seles & Jonathan - Their first dance was the foxtrot. Which I totally missed.
- Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony - Their first dance was the cha cha. I totally missed this one too. We went back to regular programming just as she finished. Wish I’d seen it because she got a standing ovation. The judges weren’t as impressed, though. They scored 18/30.
- Priscilla Presley & Louis - Their first dance was the foxtrot. I don’t know what she’s done to herself, but she looks like the bride of Dracula. I think it’s her pale skin and way-too-dark-for-her-complexion hair. Her dancing skills, however, were great! They scored 24/30.
- Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark - Their first dance was the foxtrot. A lot of people think she’d have an unfair advantage being a figure skater, but as she said, wearing skates and wearing dance shoes are two totally different things. And she had to unlearn a bunch of bad habits. But her grace on the ice still stood her in good stead. They scored 27/30.
- Marlee Matlin & Fabian - Their first dance was the cha cha. People couldn’t believe somebody who was deaf could do this show. Marlee proved them wrong. She totally rocked! They scored 22/30.
Tonight, on TV, we have Ghost Hunters, Survivor: Backstabbers, Destination Truth, UFO Hunters, and Men in Trees.
I read through about 50 pages of Second Reel last night. It needs some more work. *sigh*
Reading: I’m still reading Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones. It’s long.
Marrisa Jaret Monokur had the biggest smile on her face the entire time. You could tell she was just going to have a blast. She wasn’t given much footwork by her dancer and he was chastised for that by the judges. She did okay, she seemed to bounce all over the place with exhuberant energy. I thought she did great. (It’s about time they had someone with some CURVES on there. *G*)
Priscilla Presley did a good job dancing, but she is starting to look alot like Jack Nicholson’s JOKER from Batman.
I hope you’re staying dry! Have a pleasant evening!

You’re not kidding.

I could kill Gary England sometimes. He’s the local CBS weather guy. Actually had a cameo on “Twister” with Helen Hunt.
Anyway…I’m convinced these meteorologists really REALLY like the sound of their own collective voices.
*grins*
