I was watching CMT’s Top 20 Countdown yesterday and made a fascinating discovery. They played a new song featuring country singer Tim McGraw and heavy metal rockers Def Leppard! Not a combination I would have predicted.

And our ditzy blonde newswoman strikes again! She was doing a story about a lake having water “at the highest it’s been in over a 100 years”. The problem is, the lake’s only 60-some years old.

Today is horse racing. The Preakness is on later in the day (and I’m rooting for Big Brown, of course) plus all the earlier cards. And there’s nothing on tonight, so I’ll watch recorded shows.

I wrote a page and a half last night.

Reading: Now I’m reading Corpse Pose by Diana Killian. This is a new series for her and I’m really enjoying it. It’s quite a bit different from her Poetic Death series, though.

On this date in 1929, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences gave out awards (the Oscars) for the first time. Wings, a movie about two pilots during World War I, won for Best Picture.

The rain has stopped and the sun’s come out. We’ll conveniently ignore the fact it’s supposed to rain again later in the week.
