Our local news people amuse me to no end as you know (since I talk about it so much here *g*). The other night the ditziest of the blondes was on a real roll. First, she was telling people who don’t yet have their power restored after the tornadoes the other night to call the number at the bottom of the screen. :duh: Hello? If they don’t have power, how are they going see the number?! She didn’t even read it off! (To be fair, though, I’ve seen news anchors all across the country pull this silly stunt.) Then the next night, she was talking about the Olympic torch and said it had been through 137 states. Huh? :confused68: Last I heard it had only gone through 20 cities in 20 countries. This chick is the kind of blonde who gives blondes a bad name!

But the important thing today is the Dancing with the Stars report!

Cristian de le Fuente & Cheryl - Despite a ruptured bicep tendon (which needs surgery), Christian & Cheryl managed to dethrone both Kristi and Jason last night!!! It was quite shocking. Their tango was great in spite of the music. They danced to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”. Weird choice, but it worked. They scored 28/30. Then they danced the mambo which was fabulous!!! They scored 29/30 which gave them a total for the night of 57/60. They totally deserved to be at the top of the leader board. Kudos to Cheryl for choreographing two routines that only used his good arm.
Jason Taylor & Edyta - The best quote of the night went to Jason when Edyta told him he needed to get a spray-on tan (you have to understand he’s African-American). Jason looked at her like she was insane and said, “God gave me a tan!” She made him get in the spray-on tan booth anyway. Their first dance was an awesome tango (but once again, we had weird music—what’s up with that?). They scored 29/30. Then they danced the samba. So not his best dance. They scored 23/30 for it which gave them a total of 57/60 for the night.
Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony - Their first dance was the foxtrot which was fabulous!!! They scored 25/30 for it. Then they danced the mambo which was even better, IMO! They got 25/30 for it which gave them a total of 50/60 for the night which puts them at the bottom of the leader board. *sigh* I don’t want to see her go.
Mario & Karina - Their first dance was the Viennese waltz which was beautiful, but once again I could not get past the weird music. They scored 27/30. Then they danced a totally jumpin’ :crazedjumping: jive. Bruno, Carrie Ann and I thought it was great. Len had his crankypants on, though, so they only got a total of 26/30 for it. That gave them a total of 53/60.
Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark - Their quickstep totally rocked and they got 29/30 for it. The same, alas, could not be said for their samba for which they got 26/30. That gave them a total of 55/60 for the night.

As to who’s going home tonight, I have no clue. I like all five of the people who are left. I really have no clear-cut favorite this year.

Tonight, we have the 100th episode of Dancing With the Stars which will include a bunch of past contestants and should be great fun (especially with the new dance routine by Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno!!!), and new episodes of both NCIS and Womens Murder Club.

On the writing front, I only managed about 1/3 of a page. But that’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. *g*

Reading: I started reading a new-to-me author, Mindy Starns Clark. The first book I’ve got is Blind Dates Can Be Murder. It’s an inspirational murder mystery… That didn’t sound so funny in my head! How about she writes murder mysteries for an inspirational publisher? That’s better. Anyway, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it since I don’t like inspirationals to be too preachy. But this book is ADORABLE!!!

  1. I may have to try this book out.

Thanks for the recap on DWTS.

  2. The book sounds good. I may have to look that one up.

Now, as much as I like Christian, I think it’s time for him to go just because he needs the surgery. Plus, how long is he going to be able to dance routines with just the one arm?

  3. OOps, forgot to say good job on the 1/3rd of a page. That’s way better than a sharp stick. *G*

  6. Maybe the blonde was comic relief?

1/3 of a page is 100 more words than you had yesterday. Go, you!
