Ye gods. I swear some of the people around here (geographically speaking) are so freakin’ stupid. A city south of us released a bunch of stray dogs into a national forest (which is stupid enough), but when asked what if a child is bitten by one of these strays, the mayor said “that would be the responsibility of the stray’s owner”. WTH? Hello? If it’s a stray, it doesn’t have an owner, you moron!!!
I swear some of these people are just plain too stupid to live. And how did this idiot get elected to be mayor???
A couple of things I forgot yesterday, why is it that smoke alarm batteries always act up in the middle of the night? Every time it’s happened to me it’s been the middle of the night!
And still beating the bulldog/pug dead horse *g* having now seen pictures of miniature bulldogs, I’d have to say it really is one, but that mask of Bandit’s always made me think pug and having never heard of miniature bulldogs until this week, may I pleased be excused? *g*
Last night’s Doctor Who (which featured Agatha Christie) was, in my opinion, bloody brilliant! Donna and the Doctor traveled back to 1926 England and joined a house party at which Mrs. Christie was a guest. Spoilers ahead! Giggle-worthy moments included:
- Professor Peach talking to himself, “Why didn’t they ask– Heavens!” For those who don’t know a lot about Agatha Christie, one of her books was Why Didn’t They Ask Evans. And with a dash of Clue tossed in, Professor Peach was killed in the library with a lead pipe.
- And they managed to work in at least 13 other titles of Christie’s books that I caught. There may have been more.
And what the heck was up with the ending of last night’s Battlestar Galactica??? They finally make it to Earth and find a large city which seems completely destroyed. But I had to laugh at the thingie at the end that said the show would be back soon. I would hardly call 2009 “soon”.
Then there’s Charlie Jade. What a very peculiar show. It’s very confusing and I really haven’t got a clue what’s going on, but I can’t seem to not watch it. If they didn’t keep switching between the three dimensions without warning, it would help. There’s the Alphaverse, then Betaverse and Gammaverse. And they’re all similar enough so you can’t really tell which one is which without a scorecard. Charlie’s from the Alphaverse, but inadvertantly got knocked into the Betaverse (or was it the Gammaverse?) and now he can’t get home.
There’s nothing on tonight, so I’ll get to clear off more DVDs. Gotta clear a bunch off for the upcoming Olympics, don’t ya know.
They start in less than two months!
Tim Russert died yesterday from a heart attack. He was only 58. He was the Washington bureau chief for NBC News and the moderator of Meet the Press.
In archaeology news from MSNBC:
- 1780 British warship found in Lake Ontario
A 22-gun British warship that sank during the American Revolution and has long been regarded as one of the “Holy Grail” shipwrecks in the Great Lakes has been discovered at the bottom of Lake Ontario, astonishingly well-preserved in the cold, deep water.
Reading: I’m now reading the last of my Indiana Jones books, Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Sphinx by Max McCoy. Looking forward to when I finish it tonight, what should I read next?
I almost couldn’t read past the stray dog thing… um, stray or not, domestic dogs are NOT equipped to survive in the wild on their own.
Most of those dogs have now been condemned to a (more than likely) long, painful death. There’s a reason I give my dog Heartguard, Frontline, etc. Have you SEEN what heartworm does to an animal? It’s not pretty.
That mayor should be shot. In the kneecaps.

Marianne is right. That Mayor is a MAJOR ass. What a dipstick. Ugh!
I heard about Tim Russert yesterday (and had to tell Hubs who he was), what awful news.
I’m not a fan of Doctor Who, but the episode you’ve described sounds fun! (Clue is one of my favorite movies. *G*)
I hope you’re having a good day. And that the room re-do is still going well. *HINT, HINT* *G*

We heard about it from the business wire. Such sad news.

wow, stray dogs let out into the wild? Where do these people go to get their ideas??

I think perhaps I need to go watch Dr. Who RIGHT NOW.
The thing on the dogs….it’s a wonder some politicans have rotten produce thrown at them. This guy is just asking someone to sue the city.

I can’t stand Charlie Jade. The women’s roles are so poorly written and so badly cast that I can’t watch it.
I missed the episode of Dr. Who because I worked a show — and that’s one I really wanted to see!
