It doesn’t really have anything to do with Hollywood, per se, but it happened during the silent movie era, so I’m posting it. :)

On this date in 1914, the first transcontinental telephone hookup was completed between San Francisco and New York City.

Born on this day, actor William Powell. He’s best known for the Thin Man movies.

 Tonight’s the season premiere of Eureka!!! Not that I’m excited or anything, mind you. ;) *squeal*

And just because I so rarely post photographs, here’s one I took back in the spring. white and purple irises

I worked through 18 pages last night.

Reading: I finished reading The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, then started Black Hearts in Battersea. They’re both by Joan Aiken. If you aren’t familiar with the series they’re set in an alternate England in the early 19th Century. Instead of one of the many Hanoverian Georges, the Stuarts are still on the throne with King James III. As weird as it sounds, I learn a lot about our real history when I read alternate history books because it makes me want to research and see what really happened and what the author changed.

I think I’m going to live. I’m feeling better this morning than I did yesterday. So, slowly but surely I’m getting over the Creeping Crud. Whew!

Tonight on TV, we have The Closer and The Middleman. And I’ll watch something recorded during the first hour of prime time.

Last night while watching MythBusters I saw this commercial for Old Spice deodorant starring Neil Patrick Harris (aka Dr. Horrible *g*) and it totally cracked me up. [»]
