Well, that Bigfoot carcass those guys in Georgia found turned out to be a rubber gorilla suit! Did they not think people would figure that out? LOL!

And now for the Olympics report:

Men’s 3m springboard diving final: The female NBC chick is still as annoying as ever. I almost fell in the floor when she informed us, I kid you not, that the higher you jump on the diving board, the harder you come down on it. Well, duh! China got the gold and bronze. Canada’s Alexandre Despatie won the silver!

Men’s parallel bars: Anton Fokin of Uzbekistan did a great job! The gold went to Li Xiaopeng (deservedly so, he rocked), the silver went to Yoo Won-Chai of Korea. And Anton Fokin got the bronze which was, according to the NBC announcers, the first ever medal in gymnastics for Uzbekistan. Way cool!

Women’s 400m: Britain’s Christine Ohurougo won the gold, the silver went to Shericka Williams from Jamaica, and the U.S.’s Sanya Richards got the bronze.

Women’s 100m hurdles: Dawn Harper from the U.S. got the gold, the silver went to Sally McLellan of Australia and the bronze went to Priscilla Lopes-Schliep of Canada. I’d be more excited but I was rooting for Lolo Jones who was pulling away from the pack when she clipped a hurdle which threw off her rhythm and she ended up finishing seventh. *sigh*

Women’s balance beam: Ouch! One of the Chinese gymnasts fell off the beam and it looked like it really hurt! And the gold went to the dead-on perfect Shawn Johnson!!!! :whoo: Silver went to the amazing Nastia Liukin!!! And China’s Cheng Fei got the bronze.

Men’s high bar: Jonathan Horton of the U.S. rocked the house! The crowd which, as you know, is primarily Chinese, actually booed the judges for not giving Horton a higher score even though a Chinese gymnast was in first place. Zou Kai of China got the gold, Horton got the silver :whoo: and the bronze went to Fabian Hambuechen of Germany.

An observation I’ve made between the men’s & women’s gymnastics. There seems to be a lot more camaraderie and graciousness with the women. They hug, they kiss cheeks, no matter what country they’re from. The guys shake hands but always look like they’d rather not. *g*

And is it just me or does almost everybody from Jamaica have a hyphenated last name???

Tonight we have more of the same. That is, Olympics. And the season finale of Ghost Hunters International which I’ll record.

Worked more on character stuff for the contemporary fantasy. I’m amusing myself a lot. *g*

Reading: I started re-reading Unlucky by Jana DeLeon. I love her quirky, crazy Louisiana characters! :)

  1. I heard about Bigfoot when I came in this morning. One of the other admins and I have been following this and it certainly made our morning because we needed that laugh.

And hooray for Anton Fokin! He reminded me why I watch the Olympics (and endure the ever-obnoxious NBC coverage) because sometimes the gold medal isn’t the story, but the guy who does better than anyone expected, no matter where they end up.

  7. LOL on thinking the girls are friendlier. That has not been my observations at ALL. I think the guys are just guys and don’t go for that touchy-feely stuff.

I haven’t watched this broadcast yet, but will in the morning. I love high bar. Freakin’ scariest event in men’s gymnastics.

  9. Yeah, not a huge surprise about Bigfoot. It kind of looked like a big, horrible Halloween costume.
