Today is the birthday of Rick Springfield. Can you believe he’s 59 years old?
And he still looks good!
We had a lightning strike here yesterday which has got a bunch of stuff out of whack. It fried my mom’s VCR (but not the TV which we find very odd since they were plugged into the same so-called surgre protector). And it’s got my DSL modem and router all cranky. Right now I’m having to piggyback off our neighbor’s wi-fi.
Here’s your Olympics Report…
It was Dullsville Night at the Olympics. Tons o’ boring events I cared nothing about.
Oh well.
Men’s decathlon: The gold went to Brian Clay of the U.S.!!!
Andrei Krauchanka of Belarus got silver, and Leonel Suarez of Cuba got bronze.
Women’s 4×400m relay semifinals: The U.S. did MUCH better in this event than the 4×100m of the previous night. Yay! Now we just have to make it through the final.
Men’s water polo semifinals: *shaking head* Those caps they wear just crack me up.
They are SOOO dorky!!!
Mary Carillo had a story last night about “the romantic ideal of kung fu fighting monks” which got Bob Costas so tickled he could hardly talk. As he said, there’s nothing that says romance like kung fu fighting monks. LOL! Then he got really silly and started quoting lyrics from the song Kung Fu Fighting which had me cracking up, too.
Men’s 10m platform diving prelims: The male divers don’t do much for me. They’re way too skinny.
Men’s 4×400m relay semifinals: Good! The U.S. men did much better in this event than the 4×100m guys, too.
Men’s pole vault final: Steve Hooker of Australia won the gold, Russian Evgeny Lukyanenko took silver, and Denys Yurchenko of Ukraine got the bronze.
Women’s 4×100m relay final: Jamaica blew it! They fumbled the baton pass and got out of their lane which screwed up the Brits! One chick (of the Jamaica team) practically crawled up her teammate’s back trying to shove the baton into her hands. It was wild! Russia won the gold, Belgium took silver and Nigeria got the bronze.
Men’s 4×100m relay final: Jamaica got the gold, Trinidad & Tobago got the silver, and Japan took the bronze.
Tonight, we have more Olympics and a new episode of Primeval.
Did some more work on my characters last night.
Reading: Now I’m reading Weddings Can Be Murder by Christie Craig. Fun stuff!
i saw that relay with jamaica. i couldnt believe what happened.

Rick Springfield was my first concert… I was sixteen. It was his “Success Hasn’t Spoiled My Yet” tour.
***sigh***
I was so nuts about him.

Okay, so Rick Springfield is before my time. Sue me. *G*
I don’t even have to watch the Olympics! I come here and you tell me everything. THANK YOU! *G*
Sorry to hear about the lightening messing everything up. Hope it works out.
Also hope you had a lovely day!
