According to the stats on my blog, as of the time I write this, there have been 8000 comments made on my blog since I started blogging. Wow! Thank you!!! :)

On this date in 1911, Pennsylvania became the first state to pass censorship laws about movies. They got a very early start. *g*

On this date in 1946, a young wannabe actress had her first screen test. Even though the test had no sound, it was enough to earn her her first contract. Her name? Marilyn Monroe. :)

I enjoyed Inkheart last night. They had to compress a lot and cut a lot to fit it into two hours (it’s a loooong book), but I liked it. Of course, it has the delightful Brendan Fraser in it. It also has Academy Award winners Helen Mirren who always rocks and Jim Broadbent, plus Paul Bettany who I never seem to recognize from one film to the next.

Tonight I’ll be watching the second half of a disaster mini-series I started watching last week, Meteor. And I’ll be recording the new Miss Marple on Masterpiece Mystery. This time around they’re doing They Do It With Mirrors.

Reading: I finished up The Language of Bees which I enjoyed. It wasn’t perhaps my favorite of the series, however. And it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger which I found disconcerting. Now I’m reading A Charmed Death by Madelyn Alt. And I discovered it’s the second book in the series, not the first. Very annoying since the library has the first book, too. I just wasn’t paying attention.

  4. That’s a whole lot of comments! Congrats!

We watched Inkheart last night, too. I thought Paul Bettany was so good in that role! I haven’t read the book so have no idea if the storyline matches at all. But we all enjoyed it!

  5. You know Cornelia Funke actually wrote the book with Brendan Fraser in mind for the lead.

I’m reading the fifth book in Madelyn Alt’s series. They’re light although they are getting a bit darker as the series progresses.
