Normally, I cut off historical events at 1960, but this date in history deserves to be mentioned. On this date in 1969, the Apollo 11 lunar landing module landed on the moon, carrying the first humans to do so. Despite what the wacky conspiracy theorists think. *g* So a big salute to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin!
On this date in 1940, Billboard magazine published its first music popularity list. Topping the chart, I’ll Never Smile Again by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra with vocals by Frank Sinatra.
We also have a couple of notable deaths. Frank McCourt, the author of Angela’s Ashes, passed away yesterday at the age of 78.
And the other death was Judi Ann Mason. She wasn’t a celebrity, per se. But I think her passing deserves a mention, regardless. Ms. Mason was the first female black writer for TV comedies. She worked on such shows as Good Times, Sanford and A Different World. She passed away on July 8th. She was only 54.
Tonight is the return of the dark and dangerous BBC America show Torchwood. It’s not really what I would call a new season since it’s a five night “event”. But any chance to see Captain Jack Harkness is okay by me! But tonight we also get a behind-the-scenes look at the Torchwood team’s Hub and interviews with the cast.
I’ll also be back to writing tonight.
Reading: Finished up with A Charmed Death which I adored. Must check out the rest from the library! Next up is Hair Raiser by Nancy Cohen.

Can you believe there are some who still think the moon landing was fake? Good golly! And you’re right. Ms. Mason deserved to be recognized!
I hope you have a great day!

Interesting tidbits for today, Tori! Wow, that moon landing doesn’t seem all that long ago. Funny story about it from my college days. Can’t remember all the details, but the gist of it was someone was talking about the moon landing and another person said that he remembered it clearly. He would have been about 5 or so at the time. No one believed him. His name… Mark Armstrong. I had the biggest crush on him senior year, though didn’t have a clue who his dad was until someone told me.
