Roadside America’s site of the week this week is the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. And I have my very own personal picture of the joint! And if I knew where said picture was, I’d scan it and share it with the class. *g*

Or you could go to Rothsay, Minnesota and take a look-see at the World’s Largest Prairie Chicken. And not just any ol’ prairie chicken. Nosiree Bob! A booming prairie chicken! While you’re in the area, zip over to Pelican Rapids, Minnesota and snap some pics of the World’s Largest Pelican. Though you have to wonder just how many live pelicans they have Minnesota… I always thought pelicans were a Gulf Coast bird.

On this date in 1945, a U.S. Army B-25 bomber got lost in the fog and crashed into the Empire State Building. The accident killed 13 people. You can also read about it at the Empire State Building’s own website.

Tonight on TV, we have Ruby and the Rockits and Warehouse 13.

Wrote half a page last night. Gotta ease back into the story to tie it all up in a pretty ribbon. And get rid of the killer. All while trying to fend off the new heroine Who. Won’t. Shut. Up.

Reading: Last night I read a book by a new-to-me author, Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. It’s the first book in her Weather Wardens series. Given I read the whole thing last night, that should tell you I enjoyed it. :)

I wouldn’t call them happier days quite yet. But better. Dad got out of the hospital today. They finally got the infections kicked. He’s still got some underlying issues that have to be dealt with, but we’ll take that one day at a time. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts, everyone!

Not a lot else going on around here. It’s turned hot and humid again. Ugh.

On this date in 1909, Orville Wright set a record by flying in a plane for one hour, twelve minutes and forty seconds. Go, Orville! :cheer:

And on this date in 1921, Canadian scientists Frederick Banting and Charles Best successfully isolated insulin for the first time as a treatment for diabetes. I’m eternally grateful. If not for them, I’d have died years ago. :)

Nothing on TV tonight, so I’ll break down and watch the final two and a half hours of Torchwood: Children of Earth. I’m kind of scared to watch it, though. ETA: Okay, maybe I’m not quite so worried now. I just read the show’s been picked up for a fourth season. Whew!

And I’ll be writing again. Must finish up this book. So I can go play with my steampunk idea. I have a heroine already and she is one of the bossiest women I’ve ever met. *g*

Reading: I started re-reading The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde last night. It’s the third book in the Thursday Next series and my favorite of the entire series. But I now have library books so I’ll be delving into those tonight. :)

I am sooo sleepy today. So not funny. Yes, I’ve had a nap. Still sleepy.

So, now I’ve seen three parts of Torchwood: Children of Earth. I’m almost afraid to watch the last two episodes. Guess I should bite the bullet and just do it.

Tonight is busy. We have Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead, Masterpiece Mystery with another Miss Marple that’s been hijacked from the non-Miss Marple book, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? (so very annoying), and a disaster movie on NBC called The Storm.

Reading: Now I’m reading the second Thursday Next book, Lost in a Good Book by the wickedly brilliant Jasper Fforde. While attempting to get her Eradicated husband back, Thursday winds up working part time for Jurisfiction, the police force inside books.
