Today, boys and girls, we’re staying in the good old U.S. of A.! Zion National Park is located in the southwestern corner of Utah. And it is, in a word, STUNNING. The park is home to numerous forms of plant life, 289 species of birds, 75 mammals, and 32 reptiles. I love the historic lodges in the park.

Today in history:

  • 1918 – Daylight Saving Time went into effect in the United States for the first time. (Boo!!! Hiss!!!)
  • 1930 – The Motion Pictures Production Code was instituted, imposing strict guidelines on the treatment of sex, crime, religion and violence in film, in the U.S., for the next thirty eight years. (What a bunch of party poopers!)

The only thing on tonight that I care to see is Wipeout.

Read through more of this other story last night.

Reading: Finished up Millie’s Fling which was funny and adorable. Now I’m reading A Deadly Cliche by Ellery Adams.

As I was going to St Ives
I met a man with seven wives
    Each wife had seven sacks
    Each sack had seven cats
    Each cat had seven kits
    Kits, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St Ives?

If you’re like me, you probably remember this old nursery rhyme from when you were a kid. And today, we are going to St Ives, Cornwall. I bet we won’t meet a man with seven wives, though. LOL! St Ives used to be primarily a fishing village but has switched focus into a holiday/tourist destination. It has also become an artists’ colony. It looks like a delightful place to visit. Or even live!

I’m a zombie today. Only got about 3 and 1/2 hours sleep last night. *sigh*

The only thing on tonight I’ll be watching are a couple of my paranormal shows. :)

:typing: No keying in last night but that’s because I finished up what I was working on. So now I’m reading through another story to see I’ve covered all the bases in this legal pad full of notes I’ve got.

Reading: Still reading Millie’s Fling. I’m hoping to finish it up tonight.

Roatán is the largest of the islands off the coast of Honduras. It’s an important cruise ship and scuba diving destination. It’s a gorgeous little island.

Today in history:

  • 1886 – Dr. John Pemberton brewed the first batch of Coca-Cola in a backyard in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • 1889 – Actor Warner Baxter was born. He is probably best known for his role as the Cisco Kid in 1929′s In Old Arizona for which he won the second ever Academy Award for Best Actor. One of the notable silent movies he made was The Great Gatsby which is one of many lost films from that era.
  • 1905 – Actor Philip Ahn was born. He was the first Asian-American to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
  • 1911 – The M1911 .45 ACP pistol became the official U.S. Army side arm.

Tonight on TV, we have new episodes of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Destination Truth, Top Shot and the new show Body of Proof.

Keyed in three pages last night.

Reading: Finished up Howl’s Moving Castle and now I’m back to reading Millie’s Fling.
