I had more fun and games at the dentist yesterday, hence no blog post. And apologies for today’s being late.
We’re off to Australia today. Kangaroo Island is the third largest island in Australia. It’s located about 70 miles southwest of Adelaide. Stone tools found there hint that aboriginals once lived on the island. Approximately 4300 people live on the island. Their economy is primarily agriculture and tourism. Some of animals you’ll see are kangaroos (what a surprise!), wallabies, bandicoots, possums, and seals. You’ll find no foxes or rabbits, however, and both are banned from the island. Koalas have been introduced to the island and have flourished there. You can tour lighthouses and several other interesting sites around the island.
Today in history:
- 1891 – Actor Ronald Colman was born. He began his career on the English stage, then later moved to film.
- 1895 – William G. Morgan created a game called Mintonette. It soon became called volleyball.
- 1909 – Actress Carmen Miranda was born. She’s probably best known for wearing a fruit basket as a hat. LOL!
On TV tonight: Wipeout and The FInder.
Reading: Now I’m reading With the Lightnings by David Drake. This is the first book in the Royal Navy of Cinnabar series.

I like the lighthouses. One was round and the other square, weird, but cool. The hubs has said he’ll NEVER visit Australia, seems they have pretty much the deadliest of most everything. *g*
I hope your book is good and your day was delightful!

Interesting that they keep the predators away (except the seals, I suppose, but I imagine the seals mostly eat stuff in the water).
I love Australia …
