Do you guys (except Brandy who’s too young ) remember a kids’ show called Land of the Lost? It was about a park ranger and his two kids who went over a waterfall during a boating trip and landed in a world populated by dinosaurs, Pakunis, and the nasty Sleestaks. Anyway, I discovered Will Farrell is starring in a movie remake which also stars Pushing Daisies’sAnna Friel.
And we’ve had another death. Legendary sportscaster Jim McKay died at the age of 86. I remember watching him host both the Wide World of Sports (”The thrill of victory, agony of defeat!” as that poor skier crashed down the slope) and the Olympics.
There’s a Feasting on Asphalt marathon on Food Network tonight. They’re ones I’ve already seen, but they’re still a lot of fun if you haven’t seen them. I just adore Alton Brown. And I don’t even cook!
Ugh. It is SOOO hot & humid here. Have I mentioned how much I hate, loathe, and despise humidity? It should outlawed.
The room reorganization continues. The bookcases are all in place. My big chair has been moved. The cedar chest is doing double duty as an ottoman/coffee table. The cedar chest actually doesn’t work that well for this purpose, but it’s all I’ve got at the moment. Now to organize the bookcases…. That’s gonna be a nightmare. *g* And I will post pictures once I manage to get them loaded from my camera to my computer.
I found out a couple of days ago that Discovery had added a new channel to their stable of channels. Well, it turns out they’ve redone one channel. Specifically Discovery Home. It’s dead and gone and has risen from the ashes as the new Planet Green network. A channel that’s “All Green, All the Time”. Well, they haven’t said that, but it’s clear that’s the point. More power to them! Now if they can just give me ideas for going green that don’t cost an arm and a leg…
It’s Sci Fi Friday, so I’ll be watching Charlie Jade (which I don’t know anything about except it’s new—okay, it’s apparently about a dectective who gets trapped in a parallel world, it’s filmed mainly in South Africa, and I’ve never heard of any of the people who star in it), Doctor Who (where we apparently meet the Doctor’s daughter and nobody seems more surprised by this than the Doctor), and Battlestar Galactica (where it’s apparently the same old, same old ).
In case you’re wondering, today’s post is brought to you by the word “apparently”.
Several of you have asked about my hands. Frankly, they’re driving me insane. I just didn’t want to bore you guys with it. Heck, I didn’t want to bore myself with it! But since you asked… I haven’t done any writing to speak of since I started my break. Well, I wrote a little one day but only because I had this short scene in my head that I didn’t want to lose.
The room reorganization continues. We’re slowly making progress. The thing is, we’re shifting everything in the room except the TV cabinet. So there’s a lot to do. We’ve got the bed moved and one of the bookcases. Today we’ll be working on my new desk (a door on two file cabinets). And possibly moving two more bookcases. Depends on how long it takes for the other stuff. And how exhausted we get. *g*
One of the things I watched last night was the History Channel special Indiana Jones and the Ultimate Quest. That may have been a mistake because it makes me want to work on my archaeologist story. *g*
We cracked up during the evening news last night. They were doing a story about the space shuttle’s latest mission to the International Space Station. Why was that funny? They’re flying up there to fix the toilet! Okay, they probably plan to do more than that, but that’s what the story focussed on. No doubt, that’ll be the universe’s biggest plumbing bill ever!!!
We got my bed moved around yesterday. I’m not sure I like where it is now, but maybe it’ll just take some time for me to get used to it. We shall see. Wish I’d remembered to take pictures before we moved it, but I took some this morning. So I have something for tomorrow’s blog.
I thought there was going to be nothing on tonight, but there’s a special on National Geographic Channel about the recent discoveries at Stonehenge and the new USA show In Plain Sight premieres. Though both are repeated later in the evening/night, so I may record them and watch some more of the recorded shows I already have.
