I don’t know, that seems kind of lame for an excuse. Isn’t that an actual scientific fact?

Not a lot going on here. It’s overcast and slightly cooler. High in the 60s today. Which is fine. It’s too early to need the a/c anyway.

Tonight is the new season of Doctor Who with the new, younger Doctor played by Matt Smith. Should be fun! Ooo! Amazon has an LED flashlight that looks like the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver. I’d like to have a real sonic screwdriver. Lock yourself out of your house? No problem! I might even be able to use it to fix my hard drive! Lost in the wilderness and need to start a fire? Use the sonic screwdriver! It’s a very handy multi-purpose tool!

Still gathering stuff to rebuild my files. What a chore! This is almost like having to work! Anyway, I realized I may have to rescan a lot of old family photos on top of everything else. *sigh*

Reading: Finished up Motherhood is Murder which was great. Can’t wait until the next one comes out. Now I’ve started (barely) Lois Lane Tells All by Karen Hawkins which looks like it’s going to be a very cute romance.

I’m tired of cloudy, rainy days. And I know the farmers are too. Hope the sun returns like they’re saying tomorrow. Sunshine and warmer temps, that’s the ticket for me!

Today, on some sports channel I only just started receiving the Sunland Derby is being aired. Hope it’s not blacked out here. Tonight on Masterpiece Classic, we have Sharpe’s Challenge with the dishy Sean Bean. Love a good costume drama especially if it features men in tight breeches.

Not a lot going on here. I’ll be delving back into the family history shortly. I am determined to prove, or disprove, some of those fun connections.

It’s another bright and sunny day here. Supposed to get up to 67. Works for me! Tonight’s thunderstorms, however, I could do without. But it’s supposed to be sunny and warm again by Monday.

There is absolutely nothing on today except horse racing this afternoon on USA (why USA, I have no idea). So I’ll be catching up on stuff tonight. And working on family history.

Worked some more on The Book That Will Not End last night.

Reading: Still reading Fer-de-Lance by Rex Stout. It doesn’t look like a very long book but the print is really small.

Or as I have decided to call it, Daylight Stupid Time. And it’s a good excuse, too!

As most of you probably have heard, actor Peter Graves passed away yesterday at the age of 83. He apparently had a heart attack. He is best known for playing Jim Phelps on the TV show Mission Impossible.

I got a huge surprise in today’s mail. A refund check from a company I used to get my insulin pump supplies from. Apparently, I overpaid them. I’ll probably use it to buy a new desk chair and floor mat because mine are both wearing out.

Here’s something that’ll blow your mind. According to scientists, the Chilean earthquake last month moved the city of Concepcion at least 10 feet to the west! And it wasn’t the only city to get shifted that much.

Reading: Finished up Serpent and am now reading Deck the Halls by Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark.

I think Daylight Savings Time is one of the most annoying things on the face of the planet. It doesn’t save anything. It certainly doesn’t save daylight. It just moves it around. And Congress claiming their expansion of DST is to save electricity by extending the afternoon/evening daylight? Guess what, that’s the stupidest argument I’ve ever heard!!! It’s certainly never saved any electricity at our house! Arizona and Hawaii are the only states that now don’t deal with this foolishness. And I wish I lived in one place or the other so I didn’t have to deal with it either!

Ahem. Anyway. I’ve been listening to podcasts this morning about the Law of Attraction. I know a lot of people who swear by this so I’ve decided to give it a whirl. If I can figure out what the heck I’m doing.

Spent most of the day yesterday working on family history. Found a bunch of duplicates which I merged together. Also deleted a bunch of people who didn’t connect to my lines. Not sure how they even ended up in my database. Unless I’d deleted the connection earlier after determining they weren’t really related to me after all. I’ll be doing more of the same this afternoon/evening.

Unbelievably, Rachel Alexandra got beat yesterday in her race. Not by much, granted, and she hasn’t run in weeks, so maybe it’s not too surprising. Last night I finally watched the first episode of the Brit show Survivors. Wow. Intense. The basic premise is a super virus spreads around the world and kills off more than 90% of the world’s population. Now the survivors have to learn how to, um, survive without modern conveniences like electricity, cell phones, running water, etc.

Reading: I’m still reading Serpent by Clive Cussler and Paul Kemprecos. Should finally get that finished tonight.

Beer goggles? That’s an excuse? For what? Fashion stupidity?

I’m still loving the show Who Do You Think You Are? I’m not going to complain (much) about the trials and tribulations of searching for my ancestors anymore. Last night former Dallas Cowboy (and Dancing with the Stars alum) Emmitt Smith worked on his family tree which included his great-great grandparents and beyond who were slaves. Tracing slave ancestry is incredibly difficult because there are very few records the further back you go. I guess that’s true for the rest of us, too, to a certain extent, but I think tracing slave ancestors would be awfully frustrating (at the very least) and sad.

Since it’s the weekend, I’ll be climbing back into my family tree and seeing what nuts I can shake loose. I learned just yesterday that one of my great-grandfathers divorced his first wife before he married my great-grandma. I’d never known he was married before! And I only found out because my aunt who passed away last year had a copy of the divorce decree. We ended up with all the family history stuff she had.

There are Derby prep races on the horse racing channel this afternoon which I’ll be watching.

Reading: Finished up Death of a Ghost. Now I’m reading Serpent by Clive Cussler and Paul Kemprecos. I thought I had read this one but it’s not ringing any bells at all, so I guess not. I love Kurt Austin almost as much as I love Dirk Pitt.

Another fun find in the land of the pharaohs! Archaeologists have unearthed the intact sarcophagus of Egypt’s Queen Behenu inside her 4,000-year-old burial chamber. How cool is that?

There is absolutely nothing on tonight except the Academy Awards which I have little to no interest in watching. The Oscars were vastly more interesting when I used to actually go to the movies. Not so much anymore. So I’ll be catching up on recorded shows. Yes, still! I have a total of 52 hours worth of stuff to watch. Granted, some of those hours are episodes of Jeopardy and some movies, so those aren’t urgent to catch up on. But I do have other shows I should watch before things kick back into high gear.

And I want to do more work on the family history stuff.

Reading: Finished up SEALed and Delivered which I enjoyed a lot. I’ve come to the conclusion I’m a complete and utter Navy SEAL groupie. *g* Next up is All About Evie by Beth Ciotta. I have a sneaking suspicion I’ll like that a lot.

Nothing like planning ahead. *g*

I absolutely loved the new show Who Do You Think You Are? which was on last night. I now have a strong urge to take up my own family history again with a vengeance. In fact, I’m going to do that this afternoon.

Tonight on TV we just have a new episode of Survivors on BBC America. Not to be confused with the U.S. reality TV show of the almost identical name.

Reading: Finished up Steamed last night which I adored!!! I want more!!! I can’t believe all the negative reviews the book got on Amazon. Now I’m reading SEALed and Delivered by Jill Monroe. I’ll give you three guesses as to why. *g*

Well, I don’t drink at all, so this doesn’t really apply to me. But I’ve known people who could certainly use this as an excuse.

It’s still gloomy here. Rain, rain, GO. AWAY. And take that snow/wintry mix in the forecast with you! On the plus side, however, at least I don’t live on the East Coast. Yikes! They are getting buried under snow!

I’ve been listening to different music channels on satellite. I have now heard three different Lady GaGa songs. And I liked every one of them. Go figure.

There’s a horse race on this afternoon, but not a darn thing on tonight so I’ll be playing catch-up on recorded shows.

Did more tweaking on the Greek gods book last night. But today is going to be a genealogy day.

Reading: Last night I read Hot Spell by Michelle Rowen which is her first Harlequin Blaze book. It was very cute and fun and I Ioved it! Next up… Hold on Tight by New York Times Bestselling author (has the novelty worn off that yet, Steph? *g*) Stephanie Tyler. I already know ahead of time it’s going to rock because Steph’s books always do!

It’s bright and sunny today but they’re predicting possible snow flurries tonight. The wacky weather never stops!

Not a lot going on here. Lack of sleep but that’s nothing new. It’s disconcerting to see 2010 on the satellite TV guide listings. And speaking of TV, tonight is the last of the Doctor Who episodes starring David Tennant who has been my favorite doctor. But maybe I’ll like the child they’re bringing in to replace him. Okay, he’s not really a child, Matt Smith is 27. But still. A new show on BBC America premieres tonight, too. It’s called Demons and focusses on a young man who learns he’s a descendant of vampire hunter Van Helsing and he himself must now fight the undead. Sounds like a male take on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Looks like it could be fun.

Wrote about half a page last night. I’ll make up the day I lost earlier this week tonight.

Reading: Finished up Make Her Pay last night. I really like the Bullet Catcher series a lot. Now I’m reading Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler. This is her debut novel and it’s a lot of fun. Even though the spine labels it as “Fantasy/Horror” there’s nothing, so far, that’s especially scary. And there was one scene that had me laughing so much I almost fell out of bed. And I keep wondering if she and I might be related. I have some Peelers in my family tree. It isn’t the most common name.
