I loved Speed Racer when I was a kid. I had a thing for bad boys even then, apparently, because I loved Racer X, who turned out to be Speed’s long-lost brother. Of course, he wasn’t bad so much as mysterious. So when I heard Warner Bros. was making a live-action version I was intrigued. Then I found out they’d cast Matthew Fox as Racer X. Don’t get me wrong, I like Fox well enough on Lost but he SO isn’t my idea of Racer X. *sigh*

Anyway, our cable went out during the evening news last night (long after the storms had ended which I thought was very weird), so I had to flip over to satellite. I came across an animated movie on Nick Toons called Speed Racer: The Next Generation. As you might deduce, it’s about Speed (and Trixie’s?) kids. Since Speed & Trixie aren’t in the show and one kid ended up in an orphanage, I presume they’re dead. That’s kind of depressing. Am I silly to be so sentimental about that?

And it’s Derby Day! :crazedjumping: I’m rooting for Big Brown and Gayego in the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Since my beloved Torchwood is on hiatus, there’s nothing on tonight that I care to watch, so it’ll be recorded shows of which I have plenty. More than plenty, in fact. *g*

The night before last I only managed about one sentence in the writing department. I made up for that last night by somehow managing to write almost 3 pages! :whoo:

Reading: After finishing up Club Dead, I started Bones to Ashes by Kathy Reichs. This is the 10th Temperance Brennan book. Now for those of you who don’t know, this is the book series the TV show Bones is based on. Sort of. The Tempe in the books divides her time between North Carolina & Montreal, Canada. She’s older, divorced, and has a grown daughter. The Tempe on the TV show writes books about Kathy Reichs which amuses me to no end. Ordinarily, weird differences like this would probably bug me, but Kathy Reichs is one of the producers on the show, so I’m sure this isn’t just a case of the show execs doing their own thing to totally ruin the books. They’re both Truly Excellent but in different ways. :)

Today is my parents’ 49th wedding anniversary. How did that happen? It snuck up on me this year. They went out for lunch after a trip out in the hills to snag some rose bush cuttings from the old family farm (which hasn’t been in our family for decades). Part of me wishes I was as industrious as Suzanne and could buy the old family farm and live the country life.

And I totally missed my blog anniversary yesterday. I’ve been blogging here since April 30, 2005. But why does it seem longer? :headspin:  Maybe because before this, I had a Livejournal page?

Not a very busy night tonight on TV. We have Survivor: Backstabbers (which CBS is calling Survivor: Curse of the Idol because everybody who’s had the hidden immunity idol has gotten voted off  ), CSI, Without a Trace (which I’ve kind of given up on, but am still recording), and Lost.

And everyone in Louisville, Kentucky is gearing up for Derby Weekend. Wish I was there!

Got in another page last night on the fantasy. I may be making a mistake in trying to introduce some of the folks from future books in the series. But it’s amusing me at the moment. :)

Reading: Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris. I love that title! This is the second Sookie Stackhouse book. If you like vampires, shapeshifters, and telepaths (Oh, my!) check out this series!

I know I said I was going to cut back on computer time, but I still plan to post here every day. So you’ll still get your Dancing with the Stars report, Kacey. :)

Last night’s season finale of Torchwood was truly excellent. But very, very heartbreaking. I wonder when the new season will start…..?

Good horse race at Keenland yesterday. It was the running of the Coolmore Lexington Stakes. The winner, Behindatthebar, came from almost dead last to win by a length.

Tonight, we have Wire in the Blood. There’s also a show on HGTV I want to see called 20 Ways Your Home Can Save the Planet. I’ll be recording it, though.

Reading: I’m about 3/4 of the way through Innocent in Death by J. D. Robb. I just love this series. Eve is so wonderfully snarky. :)
