I loved Speed Racer when I was a kid. I had a thing for bad boys even then, apparently, because I loved Racer X, who turned out to be Speed’s long-lost brother. Of course, he wasn’t bad so much as mysterious. So when I heard Warner Bros. was making a live-action version I was intrigued. Then I found out they’d cast Matthew Fox as Racer X. Don’t get me wrong, I like Fox well enough on Lost but he SO isn’t my idea of Racer X. *sigh*
Anyway, our cable went out during the evening news last night (long after the storms had ended which I thought was very weird), so I had to flip over to satellite. I came across an animated movie on Nick Toons called Speed Racer: The Next Generation. As you might deduce, it’s about Speed (and Trixie’s?) kids. Since Speed & Trixie aren’t in the show and one kid ended up in an orphanage, I presume they’re dead. That’s kind of depressing. Am I silly to be so sentimental about that?
And it’s Derby Day!
I’m rooting for Big Brown and Gayego in the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby.
Since my beloved Torchwood is on hiatus, there’s nothing on tonight that I care to watch, so it’ll be recorded shows of which I have plenty. More than plenty, in fact. *g*
The night before last I only managed about one sentence in the writing department. I made up for that last night by somehow managing to write almost 3 pages!
Reading: After finishing up Club Dead, I started Bones to Ashes by Kathy Reichs. This is the 10th Temperance Brennan book. Now for those of you who don’t know, this is the book series the TV show Bones is based on. Sort of. The Tempe in the books divides her time between North Carolina & Montreal, Canada. She’s older, divorced, and has a grown daughter. The Tempe on the TV show writes books about Kathy Reichs which amuses me to no end. Ordinarily, weird differences like this would probably bug me, but Kathy Reichs is one of the producers on the show, so I’m sure this isn’t just a case of the show execs doing their own thing to totally ruin the books. They’re both Truly Excellent but in different ways.
Maybe because before this, I had a Livejournal page?
